Embroidery Sewing Machine Maintenance Tips:

In case you are the kind who needs the sewing machine everyday, then check out the handy hints below, to keep it in perfect shape.

* Try to keep your sewing machine covered when not in use. This would ensure you do not let any grime or dirt enter into the crevices of the machine. This can be specifically troublesome to computerized machines. Dirt can clog certain parts and cause a lot of damage to the embroidery machine. Always avoid placing the sewing machine near the window as you might invite more trouble when strong gusts of wind blow into your house. Go in for an economical plastic cover or better still, use old pillowcases or any such other reusable household fabrics. The cover would also prove to be useful when you have little children at your house. This would prevent them from being curious about the machine and in turn hurting themselves in any way.
* To ensure that your embroidery sewing machine performs at its best, always see to it that it is cleaned regularly. Always unplug the machine before you begin any assignment. A routine cleaning of the machine everyday would keep your embroidery machine in perfect condition. You can use a soft cloth and fold it, so that you can use the folded part of the cloth to clean between the hard to reach areas. Ensure that the pressure foot is up so that you can clean the tension disks thoroughly. Due to this, the cloth can be easily moved and can be used to wipe off any dirt clogged between the disks. Always use a can of compressed air to use the pressure to clean the difficult areas. Never use your breath to blow into the machine. Your breath contains moisture and can cause corrosion to the parts of the embroidery machine. Always get into the habit of cleaning the lint out of sewing machine after every project. This would save you plenty of time when you embark upon a new project.
* Use appropriate sewing machine oil and refer to the instructional manual to know which are the areas that require the oiling. Once you oil the parts, use some old piece of fabric that would cause the oil to run over the fabric and ensure all the excess oil is completely out, before you start stitching something new. Using oil on your embroidery sewing machine would help to lubricate the areas and also reduce the formation of rust on its various parts.
* Always make it a point to remove the machine needle and dispose it after you complete an assignment. Clean under the feed dogs and bobbin area with a small brush. Use compressed air that can blow out any dirt from the bobbin case. Sometimes the hook mechanism can be removable and before placing it back, you can add a drop of oil to it. Always check your manual to know what kind of oil would suit your sewing machine.
* Another valuable embroidery sewing machine maintenance tip would be to check the screws and set screws, of the embroidery machine. This can be done whilst you are cleaning the sewing machine itself. An easier way would be to tighten the loose screws as you come across them.
* When you choose a bobbin, ensure you find one that suits your machine. Always wind them correctly to avoid the threads that may hang from the bobbin. This can even jam the machine.
