As Mops said, my Janome Desgner Pro allows me to resize designs, too. Make sure if you use any re-sizing program that it reduces the number of stitches, as well. Otherwise you'll be crowding all those stitches into a smaller space & have problems. Ask me how I know, ha ha. I haven't had the moxie to try and split a design, as Jrob said, you have to rehoop properly, and that's just a little too fussy for my taste. But I also have a 5X7 hoop with my Janome 300E. Of course, like any good embroiderer, I now want the Mega Super Giga hoop! LOL LOL Seems like these machine designers ought to just give us frames large enough to hoop a bedsheet and be done with it, LOL. Best of luck to you, LadySings, let us know how you make out. Marji
Marjialexa, you are soooo funny, but I LOVE the bed sheet thingy!!!!!! Ha-Ha-Ha!
I don't know what's so funny about the bed sheet thingy - ***I really want a hoop that size*** - size IS everything girls! I recommend the giga hoop too, 9.1" x 7.9", wouldn't be without mine.
Hoop a bedsheet? Like a queen size or king size? My goodness, that machine would take up more room that I even have in my sewing "nook" (not that I have much space to begin with!). But I think it would be great to have some sort of device that you can attach to your machine and just do a border for as long as you want/need without having to rehoop, kind of like my pleating foot. What is the giga-hoop like? And what machine is it that it goes with? Not like I'm going to be able to get one, but a little more knowledge is always a good thing, in my opinion.
The first thing you need to discover is whether your software will split designs. They are taken from one "whole" design and made into 2,3,or 4 smaller designs that will fit into your 4x4. You have to be very careful in rehooping each area and plan with exceeding pains where to rehoop properly so that when you sew out the "parts" it looks again like a whole. If your software allows you to split, ask again and I can give you more detail.
I first started out with 4x4 too and all those lovely bigger designs were out of range. Splitting a design can be done if you have the necessary software. Then you can either draw a line across a design and obtain two parts or have it done automatically and then you can stitch them out one after the other. Sounds simple but it requires very careful hooping. If you just want to downsize a design there is WilcomTrueSizer. It's free shareware. I tried it out when it was discussed here, although I can resize in my own software, and it does a good job.
