Yes, the bug alphabet is from semi-exclusive artwork, so there could potentially be six different versions of the same set, and those six versions could be offered for sale in a huge number of locations. The one on Designs by SiCK was done by one of the digitizers that SiCK has hired on a free-lance basis (I'm one of his [less-prolific] digitizers, and I didn't do that set). Both versions of the alphabet look lovely, don't they? =]
ruthie, I am new to all this. You have answered a question that I have asked in many places, as I did not understand why I found simlar designs in different places. Thank you more then you know!!
dlmds, welcome and I'm only too pleased to be able to help. It's a big world out there on the net, with millions of things to puzzle us, so just ask anytime and we'll answer if we can - and if we don't know the answer we'll still discuss it! This is a terrific site with heaps of friendly people who are all willing to help each other. Oh, and we love giving flowers too - here's one for you.
WOW! I learned so much from you ladies. Thanks. I don't know much about digitizing. That's why it pays to read answers to questions that you don't have a response too. And special stars to all of you.
I'm hoping that the bug alphabet will be the next free set. It will make nice designs for my Project Linus quilts.
A lot of digitizers purchase clipart from the same source. The great advantage to getting your designs here is the extremely good quality work you get and good stitch out, few jumps and stops.
I didn't take a good look at the bug alpha yet on sick, but there's another reason for duplicates. Designers buy artwork to digitize, sometimes 'generic' clip art, which is fairly inexpensive, or semi-exclusive, which is only sold to a limited number of people, like 5 or 6, or exclusive, which is only sold to one person. So if a designer purchases semi-exclusive art, there could be 5 other people digitizing the same artwork. Thus, each digitized piece will be different, in color, perhaps, and in the individual style of the digitizer. That's what makes digitizing so wonderful, we can each do it our own way. Take a really close look at what seem to be 'duplicates', you may find they are totally different, each great in it's unique way. Oh, can you tell I love this hobby? Marji
Yes they are on designs by sick they are free again with a paid membership. Coloring may be a litte different, like Ruthie says the digitisers sell to many different people so as to earn there money also. Heres a flower to both you lovely ladies.
siouxx, I think a lot of digitisers sell their designs to a number of site owners, quite often I see the same designs on totally different sites. They are trying to earn money from their designs, and the more sites they sell to the more they earn. I agree with you that it's a terrific alphabet, the bugs are so *cute*, and what's more, with my membership I get it for free. Have a fun day and here's a flower for you.
Yes, Ruthie, Jumping Needle recently sold a *ton* of design sets to Designs by SiCK, mostly redwork designs. And Shawn (that's SiCK himself) designates them as JN designs to give the digitizer credit, because they use many different digitizers on the site. I think that's so nice of them. They have a good site, too, if you've never been there. Marji
Thanks for that info Marji, I'm a regular visitor to the *Sick* site, and I wondered what the JN stood for. What does the DD stand for? Flower for your help.
The DD stands for "Digitizing Diva", another great digitizer who also sold a huge number of design sets to Shawn, and ended up joining his staff. She helps answer questions and problems, and is incredibly sweet.
Thanks cutiepie, Digitizing Diva does some beautiful work, and so many design sets. Flower for your answer.
