These hearts were stitched on my sewing machine, then I added free-standing butterflies, stitched onto white organza to give them a shimmery effect. I’ve used another butterfly to cover the hanging hook, which makes it look like the butterfly is carrying the hearts. I always do that kind of thing, I find it's a good way to hide the hooks.

Beautiful, Ruthie! I've never tried to embrouder on organza, how do you stabilize it, wss? Thanks, Marji

Hi Marji, thanks and a flower for you. The stabiliser depends on the look you want. If I want a see-thru look, then it's wss. But if I want a more solid look I'll use a tear or cut away, I prefer tearaway, but find I have to be *very* careful tearing it. The organza has to be stabilised firmly, use a design that isn't too dense (although why would anyone do it on organza if they didn't want to see the sheen through it, haha), then just cut around the butterfly, or whatever, and voila! Have fun trying them.

Very nice, Ruthie. Like the idea to hide the hook with something that matches the design. Lovely idea for lavender bags.

Thanks mops, and a flower for your comments. I hate the hooks showing, I think it spoils the look, and it's not always possible to hide them. This way I can deliberately not hide them, and as in this case it makes a feature of it.

How pretty, and what a good idea. Are the hearts filled with lavender or pot-pourri or something like that, or are they just stuffed?

Thanks Dianne, a flower for you. They're filled with lavender with wadding to help keep their shape, every now and then I'll sprinkle a couple of drops of lavender oil in an inconspicuous place.
