I am having a big problem in downloading the designs. After I click on download, I get "local disk C " and when I click on save, nothing happens. I am trying to download to a CD-RW.

Yes, you can save to a CD or DVD if they are CD-RW or a DVD-RW - the RW means it is rewritable -- Or you can save to a USB flash drive directly by choosing the USB drive it is connected to. I have just saved a design from DBC and choose to save it to my CD-RW - when I chose to save it - I choose my "DVD-RW" drive and it automatically opened my CD drive for me to put my CD in - I then saved to a rewritable CD - no problem. However this will not work on just a CD or DVD regular as these are read only formats - the CD or DVD needs to be CD-RW or DVD-RW which is rewritable. I have had problems re-writing to these however and I don't think they work as well as the floppies for adding things to. I still like to save to a folder I create in "My Documents" or on the "Desktop" then burn all at once though!

With a CD-R you can only write once while a CD-RW you can write many times to fill the CD. I did learn this the hard way. I read about the CD's. That is my main problem, I don't take the time to study the teaching material. I also changed from Windows X-P to Windows 7 so I must relearn. Thanks for your help.

I've brought this to the top to help ruta find it!

BTW you can't save directly to a CD. You need to do as bandit says and save in a folder in my documents. Then you can use your CD burning package to create you disc.

Thanks for the information. I know you have to save it to a folder in my documents. Like a pes folder (format that I use). I know to use CD-RW. CD-R you can only use once. I learned the hard way. I will perservere. I just changed from X-P to Windows 7. The grass is not always greener on the other side.

Ok, the local disk C is usually your main hard drive where all your programs are - you need to choose your CD-RW Drive to save to for this - it will probably be something like "DVD RW Drive (D). Same will go for saving directly to USB's - you need to choose that "drive" where the USB is plugged into to save it. Like bandit2190 aslo suggested - you can create a folder on your Desktop and save to - or like I do - I create a folder in "My Documents" and save there - then later go back and send to my Cd or DVD. Hope this helps.

This information is what I need. I need to save to a folder for PES format which I use. I don't really have the patience to sit down and study the HOW-TO's. But I will take some time now because I am getting frustrated. Thanks for your help.

You probably have to save to desktop first and then to CD-RW. This is how I save to my flash drive to transfer my files.

Right on. I am learning. I enjoy this community web site. I need to sit down and just practice now that I have the info. I just changed to Windows 7 and it is a little bit different but sort of easier.
