I embroider directly on the diapers. One more question does any one have an idea how much should I charge for six diapers, she is given me all the materials. Thank you!!!!!

I have done several, and did a few differently, but I do stitch through the padding with no problems. I couldn't tell you what to charge - I always gave mine away. Some I just used a fancy stitich from my machine and stitched through the folds, but then decided I liked to do them a little differently - so I put applique on them, and matched fabric for borders to the applique.

I have done them with sticky stabilizer, the prefolds are pretty thick in some areas, and not in other....makes it hard to hoop well. I use a size 14 topstitch needle, and then put together so that the back (and back of embroidery) is covered by fabric, cut long enough so that the edges are banded. So that you have the whole width of the diaper.
As to how much? Slightly more than you would charge to do the embroidery.

I did mine a lot simpler. Just stitched a design on a center, then placed two 2 pieces of fabric face together then stitched almost shut, pulled out then top stitched. They have held up well.Gave them away at a baby shower.

Linda Avolio does a lot of burp cloths... she would be your expert for info. I have embroidered on thick diapers with no trouble at all on my Ellisimo and my 6 needle Brother PR620. I use a standard embroidery needle... 12 or 14.

That is a very good tutorial from five star. I would also double up on the fabric you put at the bottom, just to give it a little better thickness. I use the same needle as for most projects. The next question is a little harder. Where I live, most people do not appreciate the work that goes in to our projects,so they won't pay alot. So I am sorry, I charge way too little and can't help you there.

Someone on here makes them a lot, maybe search projects and then private message her for details.

I've never done a burp cloth from a prefolded diaper as they don't sell them in the Netherlands, but there's a tutorial on FiveStarFonts that may answer any questions you have.

I have no idea about padding diapers, because we use different terminology in Australia, Is this item disposable? I am not sure, any how if you are taking about something with layers, it is best to only embroider on one layer. your embroidery just won't sit right if it is through many layers.
how much you should charge is a very complicated question, but what you need to factor in is you cost of thread stabilizer, and machine time, plus your time and your expertise, don't undervalue what you do, people want you to do this because they do not have the equipment or the skills.

Hi Alice, they make cotton diapers and fold them and stitch so that the center part is like 3 layers but the outer edges are only one. Not disposable. Been around here for at least 35 years cause that's how long ago I used them, lol.
