Thanks for asking this. I was wondering the same thing! But having read the answers here...I see it's the "plastic" I use to wrap up gift baskets. Cool. Something else to try, LOL when I find time!
The problem with all these new ideas is that you want to try them out straight away! But I am not allowed to start anything new until I have finished my current project and that is a big one.
I am glad you asked that question I have been trying to find what that is used for. blessed
I see you have your answers. Thanks for asking...it helps others as well.
I have had my embroidery machine for 5 years now but have always stuck to plain designs. I am now ready to experiment more and an very grateful to all cuties who are willing to answer my questions.
here are a couple of place to visit.
Mylar it a very thin translucent, look like metallic plastic material used up to now as a wrapping paper, the digitizer have discovered a new way to use it,the result is like metallic thread without the nightmare of it. There are many companies offering free Mylar designs, as for me I have not luck i live in Dominican Republic and i can not find it, i told my daughter in Florida and still can not find it, I will have to buy it via internet, that means costly for me because of international shipping.
I will keep an eye out for it, have not seen it yet but have not looked for it either.
Send me your address and I will look out for some at the Dollar Store(here in SA we call it the Crazy Store) and pop some in the post for you to try
thank you very much for this offer, but I have just looked at the links given to me and now I have seen what it looks like (There was a brilliant video on Utube) I know what it is and also have seen it in the art and craft shop. It is in fact in the part for flower wrapping!
You buy it at the party supply store or Joann Fabrics, or a craft store. It is a plastic film they use in gift bags, or gift baskets. It should be next to the tissue paper section. Folks cut it, hoop it, and incorporate it into embroidery. Appparently it holds up, and gives a different effect to the embroidery, and another layer to the design.
