We have a list of folks we know

All written in a book,

And every year at Christmas time

We go and have a look,

And that is when we realize

These names are just a part,

Not of the book they're written in

But of our very hearts.

Each name stands for someone

Whose path touched ours, and then,

Left such a print of friendship, love, and more

That we want to touch again.

And while it sounds fantastic

For us to make this claim,

I really feel we are composed

Of each remembered name.

So never think of Christmas cards

As just a mere routine,

Of names upon a Christmas list

Forgotten in-between

And when we send this Christmas card

That is addressed to you,

It is because you're on that list

Of folk we're indebted to.

And every year when Christmas comes

We realise anew,

The biggest gift that life can give

"is knowing folks like you"

And may this Spirit of Christmas

That forever and ever endures,

Leave its richest blessings

In the Hearts of You and Yours

Marg, thank you for sharing this - I have always adored her writings and have bought many of her cards through the years - it sure says alot - when you realize that CUTE family is on our list of those the have made a difference in our lives - isn't it? Thank you and each of the CUTE family for being part of my list of names that Rick and I are indebted, too. Merry Christmas.

"My Christmas Card List" written by Helen Steiner Rice, born in Ohio, USA. I was born and raised in Ohio and her poems were part of my english curriculum and our 8th grade Ohio history. Thanks for reminding me of her rhyming poems. Happy Holidays to you and your family.
