I get my next project ready- other times I cook/iron/run around tidying up while my design stitches out. Or just sit watching it fascinated at the work of the embroidery machine!

I am either organizing the next project, cutting out a quilt or something to wear or sewing while it's running. I just feel it's such a lot of wasted time if I'm not working on something else. I'm also known to play with the 11 month old GD on the floor too! But I'm always right there if something should go wrong (heaven forbid).

I rent and watch movies if I am doing a lot of embroidery. I have a small TV right beside my machines.

I am so fearful of massive war between needle, thread, and machine, that I barely move my eyes from the machine. I do manage to clean up clipped threads and the area near the machine. If I move far from my chair, I move so quickly, I look like a clown on a spring, bouncing right back!! LOL

I dont dare leave it so I'm usually standing over it waiting for the next thread change - or thread shred as it was today lol. In the case of FSL I turn the telly up but I'm still right next to my machine. (I'm sure my neighbours know when I'm running my embroidery machine at night coz the telly is so loud lol.) xXx

O yes I Multi-task. I have a very small home and my machine is in the dinning room which is connected to the living room by an archway I am always picking up dusting cleaning shredding mail,Like the rest of you I like to stay close by my machine never fails that a thread breaks when you leave thing unattended. I use my laptop to update my school website since I am the web master. Multi-tasking is just in our nature.

I don't dare leave the room. The machine is too loud for the TV so I pretty much watch the design develop. Sometimes I clean up around the area. I always seem to be able to make a mess in a short time.

I tend to sit there like an idiot!! My computer is in another room. I do have a TV that only gets 1 station. I keep a cook book for reading. If I walk out, all hell breaks loose! Kay

Depends on what I need to do. My laundry room is on the same floor as my sewing room, so if there is laundry to be done, I do that. If I have sewing to do, I sew on my daughter's machine, while my machine is doing the embroidery. If I don't have sewing I either move my laptop to the sewing room and do things on it, or I get my sketch pad and draw. If I'm working on things in the sewing room during hours when I'm homeschooling my daughter, I teach her, while the embroidery is going.

Well - unlike many of you I do not have the lap top or PC near my sewing machines - but I am usually trying to work 2 machines to better use my time. Too, I have taken the time to read while I wait for some designs to finish. Not often, but have finished a book or two this way. I try to stay busy so that I do not sit too long.

Sometimes I sew on regular machine, I iron, cook, read, watch TV, check the computer email. I try to stay fairly close by.

I tend to "babysit" the machine, since I'm still rather new to embroidery and Have had all kinds of mishaps in the the begining! LOL But I am learning and don't have to hack my way through "birds nests" under the hoop!

Oh, the list is endless, but includes hooping, cutting, pressing, housework, cooking, sewing cleaning up the room. Well, there is always something that needs to be done, butcleaning bathrooms never seems to be a mult-tasking job.

I now ALWAYS stay in the room! I've had several needles break lately & they flew everywhere! I still haven't found one of the sharp points & am praying it's not inside the machine! I don't go without shoes in my sewing room..too dangerous! LOL But I have plenty to do when I'm in there! I'm a very messy sewer!

yes, I definetly multi task, I might do some housework in my sewing room, that is always needed, or nearby room so I can hear the machine. But I also have my Pfaff smarter machine on the other side of the table and I am usually sewing or quilitng something else.

I love being at my embroidery machine - I too love to watch it work it's magic, but I like to do several things while two machines are going - I get the next project set up and ready to go - I pick out the materials or threads - I also check on my email and CUTE. There are times that I watch TV - do my housework - fix dinner - eat and have confersations with my DH or will chat via AIM with friends.

I swing around my chair and work on the regular machine opposite. Tend not to go too far, just in case!

None again my machine plays up so I stay and look at it to make sure it's working Ok.
But most of the time I prepare my work, iron what has just been embroided, quite often I look for new freebies !! I also tidy my threads. If it is cooking time, I start one color and go back downstairs (2 floors !!) to start my cooking. Go back upstairs to change my second color and so on and so on !!
Something is very sure, I never stop embroidering !!

sewdeb by sewdeb 21 Dec 2010

Wow! I never knew sewing was an aerobic activity! Maybe I should move my machine up two flights. Or maybe not ;-)

Ohh the baby must keep you quite busy, luckily my kids are grown up, my son (21) loves to pop in to see what I am making and gives me some advise on designs as well!

marleymoo by marleymoo 21 Dec 2010

She does keep me busy!! Shes 18months old now and knows that she not allowed in "My Corner" of the kitchen where my machine is set up! But every so often she loves to come over to see whats happening!!!

I know what you mean, I am soo fascinated by what my embroidery machine does, I can sit there and watch it forever! I get my next project ready, print out my template and decide on what threads I'm going to use and mark that on my template. If it's going to be a quilt, I'll iron the fabric and get it ready. I do try and stay in my sewing room cause the minute I walk out something happens! Carol

Yes I know that feeling - you can babysit your machine for an hour but the minute you walk out something happens - not so good!
