Wow i guess i will just say thanks for the snow as i got lots & c/mas was sunny in my bush WITH ALL OUR SNOW !!!
Not being used to getting snow does create a problem. I remember one year while living in the San Francisco area it snowed. I looked out my window and watched the cars acting as if they were square dancing. Hills were no help and who in their right mind had snow tires on. Better to stay home and watch the beautiful display of nature.
Angie, that is so funny. I can just see that now. All those cars in different positions. When I was a police officer one year we had quite a bit of snow, and I had to work a car wreck with square dancing cars. hehehe.
The snow is beautiful....in high school we lived in Goose Bay, Labrador (dad in AirForce) and in the winter we never saw the streets due to the snow and as for school we went, but if the wind chill was at a certain number (very cold) we could wear pants....that was back in 65-66 I bet things have changed about dress.....thanks for the pics....Gods blessings Janet
Yep, you can bet your tail feathers, the dress has changed since then. hehehe...Plus they probably have gotten a little better with the streets up there too. you think? If not, I'm sure those kids get a good cardio. LOL...
I've lived in the south my entire life and know the milk and bread rule. I think maybe everyone has bread soup? Me, I just make certain I have p-nut butter for the bread and just drink the milk.
All of our churches were cancelled also. When our son left at 11am they still hadn't plowed our roads yet. This was a good day for a rest after the busy last few days.
I think the Lord knows what He is doing that is for sure. I had a good morning service watching one of the pastors from The First Baptist Church here in Spartanburg. He is from So. Africa but man he can preach... It was wonderful to hear a different message that I needed to hear. LOL... I can image what it is like in Boone. I've been there when the roads weren't clear also...
I enjoyed your pictures of snow and can match you. I read every post and chuckled. I grew up in the Northeast and remember slipping and sliding home while riding school buses. The roads with more than 4 inches of snow became dangerous because the terrain is very hilly and the roads twisted and turned. Now I am in ND and shake my head at the drivers who think they are invincible. I walk with fear because the parking lots are so slippey. So I stay home much of the long winter to stay safe.
Yep staying in is much safer. LOL... Most don't realize that in the south we don't have the big heavy equipment that is a norm for the northerners. hehehe...I think it is so funny the reaction from the locals here. Milk and bread are the first things to go. Literally empty shelves. I laughed so hard when I heard and saw that. What are you going to do with milk and bread for snowed in days? LOL... Now I'm with the crowd, it's milk and bread first. hehehe. I make hot chocolate and toast as a snack. (still not sure what the others do with all that milk and bread. hehehe...
Terre, I'm up here in Virginia. Church was cancelled for us, too! I grew up in North Dakota and only remember schools closing once. We had mountains of snow and the plows were getting stuck in the street! HeHe! But now I don't want to drive in even a few inches because of the crazy people that don't know how to slow down on icy roads!
LOL... that is the main reason I don't get out in it, because of the crazy idiots who don't know how to drive in it. Especially if they hit a patch of black ice... Yikes!
here is the picture
How beautiful it is to see this scene. We don't get snow here at all in Newcastle - too hot a city. Love Chris
Terre, it is wonderful to get the snow - which you very seldom do - but it also is difficult to not get out and do the things that you normally do - we didn't get snow for Chrismtas - which is usual - but it started snowing about an hour ago - so that will be good - we don't close everything down - however - when it snows - life just goes on as usual. Don't see the picture, yet.
It's so funny, Shirlene, I lived in Norway and Northern Italy and Germany for so long and nothing closed for snow. In fact, in Norway people would cross country ski to work. But when I moved back to the US, I laughed at the people for shutting down because of snow. Of course I didn't realize then that they didn't have the equipment to deal with snow like other areas, so I've become just like the rest. hehehe... I don't get out in it anymore because I've discovered that most here don't know how to drive in it and even though I do, I stay off roads because of the others. LOL.... Glad you are getting some of the pretty white stuff. :)
