We have the 8th of march as Womens day to (in Denmark). But somewhat different from what your describing. For us it is Womens Fighting Day. A day where political active women remembers that not that long ago women were not alloved to vote. Women gets lesser paid as men for the same job, eventhough it has been forbidden for many years.
What a fantastic thing flamingo, to congratulate *all* women On Mother's Day, we only really congratulate our own and close friends. Do you have a day where you celebrate for the men too? Have a fun day everyone.
Hello, Flamingo! What a nice idea, to have a Woman's Day, I'm going to put that one on my calendar & start promoting it here in the USA. I found some lovely fleece fabric that is not too thick, I'm going to embroider women's initials onto it, with the same thread in the bobbin as the top, and make neck scarves. I think I will use the Firebird Alphabet from here, it is so elegant. Good luck on your projects, Flamingo. Marji
8 March this very glad and stirring holiday. Our men congratulate all womans of native, friends, employee and simply any womans who they meet on street, in transport everywhere-everywhere. It is pleasantly. Our men do gifts for woman are flowerses, jewelry, perfume. Flower for you
OK, I'm really going for it now! What a thing that would be, especially for our young girls, to be appreciated for just being *female*! A celebration of womanhood, & all the things we are to so many people. Right on, Russia! My father's parents were of Russian extraction, spoke no English when they got here, but I sure inherited their, well, I like to call it 'stick-to-it-iveness, but DH used to call it 'bullheadedness'. We'll be hearing more about this holiday, never fear! M
OK - I see from your comment to my answer - that now we are getting a bit more info - to assist you -how about handkerchiefs, magnets, bookmarks, 3D flowers as brooches, hot pads, shawls, small kleenex pouches, billfolds or small clutch purses, grouping of assorted note cards, memo pads, notepad holders, picture frames, casserole carriers, koozies, linens, prayers, pin cushions, baskets, doilies, sachets, potpouri holders, and gift bags - all of which you can embroider in your hoop or not depending on the budget that you may be limited to, how many women will be in attendance and who you have to help you with this project. Good luck. Please let us know - what you decide on - Okay? Shirlene

flamigo, I was wondering - the idea's that you want for Mother's & Father's Day, are they for your parents or for some sort of project that you are trying to do for youth or as gifts for others to give to their parents?
There is holiday "International Woman`s Day " in Russia 8 March. In this day congratulate all : girls, womans, grandmother. Thanks. Flower for you
Flamingo, I find that if I do something that I love, and make it with love, then they will love it too. But you can rest assured that no matter what you give your Mum and Dad they will absolutely love it, more so if you have made it especially for them. That's the beautiful thing about parents! Have fun with whatever you make, hugs and a flower for you and have a terrific day.
What sort of hobbies do your Mother or Father have - usually making a design for them - comes easier when you have something in mind to start with, such as their favorite things. My Mother loves roses, so it is really easy to make her something with a rose on it. My Daddy however is into NASCAR, so a racing flag or sports car would work for him. Or you may want to do a photo stitch of either one of them for a pillow, if they enjoy viewing the old photos. A collection of assorted cards with a nice set of embroidery of their favorite things, might be a nice touch. Whatever you do - do it with love and they will enjoy it, especially if it comes from you. Here is a flower for each of you.
Thanks for nice ideas. I think to me its high time to learn digitizing as quickly as possible:0) Flower for you
flamingo, may I ask what ages? That would enable me to help you more. ;)
Do they like to read? Perhaps, a book with an embroidered bookmark from you. Cook? How about aprons? Men in US do lots of cooking outside on grills so we make macho aprons for them, too. If they are like me, the most precious gifts are time with my children. They sometimes cook for me and write me letters telling me of their love. (I have YEARS worth of them in a box under my bed). You will think of something. ;)
Thanks for advices. Is above what to think. It will help to give me personal gifts. Flower for you
