Clawton, just a little tip that I found. If you are using aida cloth, and you can manage to do this, it's a neat trick. Line your cloth up absolutely straight in the hoop, then make sure that your first stitch will start in a hole (you'll know what I mean having done hand x-stitch on aida), use your machine to move the design up-down-left-right, whatever it needs to do this. This gives it a *real* hand-done look. I've done this and people don't believe that I haven't done it by hand! Have fun, hugs and a flower for you.
Forgot to say that you'll only have to *nudge* the design a fraction to line up.
Very good tip there Ruthie i guess i was lucky the times I did it cause mine did line up. but will be more aware of it next time. Flowers to all
Sounds complicated! Maybe after doing a few pieces I'll try the aida cloth. Thanks for the sugestion and directions. I copied your response because I know I won't remember.
clawton, thank you for the question and to all the others - thank you for your wonderful responses - we have such a great community here. A flower for each of you. Shirlene R.
Hi, Clawton, I do a lot of cross stitch. Most digitizing software has it already, but not all. Ann the Gran has a free trial on her x stitch software. You can scan your own photo, artwork, etc, import it and digitize. Cross stitch is done on your machine just like any other pattern. Load your format to your machine and go. Uses the same Pes, Art, SEw, etc as you always use. Use a good stabilizer suitable for your fabric type. It's great you can put it anyway where with out using waste cloth the way we do by hand. Of course you can still put it on Aida, but it is not necessary. The Count is number of squares per inch. Try it you'll like it. Happy stitches, Freida
Thank you so much. It was one of those things I was doubtful about and was afraid to try it. Just didn't want to mess up my machine. As I have done hand counted cross stitch I am familiar with the count concept. It was one of my favorite crafts until the emb machine. With age my eyes struggle with it.
No special software is required. They stitch out the same as your other designs. The 14,16,18 is the Aida count that you would use for Manual cross stitch. (cross-stitches per inch. Some people use that fabric for the machine also. It is a personal choice. ;)
Thank you. I will get one of out and try it. I not a risk taker! That's why this is the first and only site that I interact with. It has been very helpful and fun. Where else can we enjoy giving flowers for doing good things!
delete the "of" and make "I" I'm. My husband has interrupted too many times today. I can't focus!
Way to go clawton - blame someone else for your mistakes, hah ROFL. Must try that one!
clawton, Thank you for asking this question, I wondered about this also, and did not think to ask. Some say 14,16,and 18 cross stitch, which just confuses me more. I am sure some of our new friends have an answer for all this. Sorry, I can't help, but here is a flower for you.
hello, sometimes I use cross-stitch designs. They have to be in the same format as you are using fot the common designs. So I'm using pes-format,so the cross-stitcg designs have to be also in Pes-format.And then you can embroider the design in the same way. Good luck and yust try, I did and there was no difference for me to embroider.
Thanks for the flower. We tend to learn a lot at this site and have fun at the same time.
