about not having a tree for our little Grands, for our Boxing Day (Christmas) celebration.

So Ray & I spent a lot of our (TWO) shopping days, trying to find a tree that wouldn't take me all day and half the night to decorate, along with buying all the Christmas presents & Christmas food.
We finally found a six footer for, wait for it, $4.00, no, not forty, but four dollars. OK so we didn't expect much for that, but we grabbed some gold balls and gold tinsel and a lovely golden Angel and thought at least we have a tree.

Then of course, I couldn't get the thought, of some beautiful Christmas bell lights I had seen, out of my mind, so we flew back to the Santa shop and bought those, along with 12 metres of rope lights and 24 metres of icicle lights. What the heck we saved money not buying gifts for each other. LOL!!!

Anyway, I was up early Boxing day morning (1:00AM to be precise) and I had all the boxes of food and nibblies packed. Last minute crystals added to the napkin rings I had made (THANKS LEE), presents wrapped & labeled, Eskies full of food, Tree, tinsels and Angel boxed and all waiting at the door ready to load into the car and I could hardly wait for Ray to wake up so we could get going.

Anyway, 7:30 saw us on the road to the house and then we rushed around setting up the Table, the Christmas tree and hanging the Christmas lights outside and for the kiddies to enjoy.

We spent a fantastic day with my Son, his wife and my three gorgeous Grandchildren.

So what if I couldn't find the box the drinking glasses were packed in, wine doesn't tate too bad at all out of disposable plastic glasses, and Pepsi tastes even better.

But the big thing I will never be able to live down??????

when I opened the Roast Turkey Breast I discovered it wasn't a cooked one, so here we were all expecting a superbly cooked roast Turkey and Cranberry sauce and I stood looking at a pink gooey, raw, floppy mess!!!!

What a hoot!!!

Luckily we had ham and roast pork, which is the Aussie favourite anyway.

We had a truly lovely day, after the kids left we dismantled the tree, took down the lights, cleaned up the mess and got back here at Penrith after 11:30 PM, totally exhausted.

Our first Christmas in OUR home was sort of magical and I hope it is the first of many we will share together. Who knows, maybe one day even Ray's family will join us as a family.

Sorry I can't share some photo's just now as the camera Lead is up at the house.

Hugs and roses to all, Meganne

With all of the confusion and even a minor mess with the turkey, I am so glad you and the family had a wonderful celebration! I learned many yrs ago that the best laid plans of man, even when they went wrong could be fixed with patience. I do hope than you and your family had the best ever Christmas and that each new Christmas brings more and more joy to all of you. Our christmas was a very nice one and I had a big surprise! I turned 64 the day after Christmas and this Christmas was my very first "White Christmas"! We still have snow on the ground today 2 days after because it also snowed on my birthday. I enjoyed Christmas with all of my fairly new family(my son's family that he married into 27 months ago). He married into a very nice family and we had a very large mixed family included. The oldest daughter got a ring from the "husband to be" and his two young son's were there with us to celebrate along with all of the other young children in our family. I always wanted alot of children around but I only had the one son and then he waited until he was 41 to get married. I had decided that I was happy with all of the children in my cousin's family for many yrs but it is nice to have little ones around all of the time.

I hope by next Christmas, that you and Ray will be settled in your new home with everything in place and your belongings will be in the new home so everything will not be so hard to find. Your new home is beautiful and seems like a wonderful place to spend the rest of your life enjoying. A very Happy New Year to you! Glad your Christmas turned out to be a great one, even with the minor adjustments! Hugs and blessings, Linda

It sounds as if you need to spend today lying down in a darkened room!
