I have been there I live within and hr of driving distance of this store and of Mary Jo's both are geat. I buy almost all my thread there.
Wow; it sounds amazing. Will try to visit in the summer.
Thank you!
*4u!
This is just like The Christmas Shop, wherever that is. I believe you might be talking mainly about machine embroidery thread, being on this site, of couse. My question is .... has anyone tried the actual serger thread. I'm really interested in the serger thread that is advertised, not the woolly nylon one, just the ordinary serger thread it's 6000m for $3!!!!!!!!! I pay a whole lot more than that for what I believe is substandard thread.
If anyone has any input at all about this I'd love to read what you have to say.
Thank you, also, for sending this message and for the pictures. I've been green with envy for days and, no, I didn't have too much Christmas pudding!
AlmaG.
I looked at their serger thread Alma, and it looked high quality. Better than what you get at Hobby Lobby. For the price, it might be worth trying. Their shipping is actual price so there are no hidden fees.
BTW are you referring to the Christmas Shop in Tennessee? It's HUGE and carries EVERYTHING Christmas!
Thank you so much for your answers.
I'm going to order some serger thread now and see how it works on Sandy's serger. Sandy's my daughter in AZ and I'm visiting from South Australia but I'd like to take some new threads home to try them out as well.
I haven't been to Tennessee but the Christmas shop there does sound like my kind of place. There's a special Christmas shop in Melbourne, Australia, and one day I'd like to visit it.
AlmaG.
Wow. My husband will be glad that this is so far away from us.
thank you!
Hope you went to page two at the bottom of the page and then to the end where the pictures are. Glad you like them.
Wow! That is a true dream store that I need to visit!!
OK - that settles it - Hubby will just have to stop there with me next time we go up that way. He can just stay in the car - or....hmmm. Maybe my little sewing buddy and I need to take a couple days away. LOL
Come by my way in Ga. and I will go too!! Trouble is when you order it via Internet, You don't know which is RA. To be there in person you would recognize that snap up and down bottom lip on the cone and hand pick it.
hehehe... If you are coming up from Ga. Stop in Spartanburg and I'll lead you to it. hehehe.
WOW!!What a store. Now how do I put a motor on my Radio Flyer (little red wagon)so I can buzz over there?Too bad there is not one close by in Texas. JoAnnes has the Robison-Anton thread here for around $8.00.Will have to try this. Thanks for the info. Stella
hey Stella, the 1000m of RA is only 2.00... I repeat 2.00, but not sure if that is special bins or what. Will have to find out again.
All I can say is WOW. I would have an awful time coming out of there and not overspending.
Ahem.... It's a good thing I got money as my Christmas presents. hehehe.
can't type a comment....too many cold shivers.
These pics will be in my dreams too. Walking the aylies once to look, twice to sort and a third time to descide how much I can carry out - with out messing the buget. You must have had a REAL hard time ;-)
regards Sue
Oh that would have been a good idea. hehehe. My mind was going in every direction the owner's wife got tickled at me.
Wow, I never would leave again. Here in the stores they have the most expensive thread in 200m (!!!)cones (can I say cone to those little ones ;o) or if you lucky they have Brilldor with 1000meter for a reasnable price.
I think I know about what I'm dreaming tonight...
Greetings, Bettina
Bettina, the ship overseas and charge actual shipping and no extras. Might be worth it. :)
Thank you. I found out that I am only 2 hours from this store. So Thanks. DeVon
DeVon, let me know when you visit. I'll come and meet you. I'm an hour south of it. :)
WOW this is weird. I'm only an hour south fo Long Creek Mills. We'll have to meet. I love Long Creek Mills. I go about 2or 3 times a year. Would go more often but would spend to much money. I love it. They gave me about 3 yards of fsl stablizer to try because I couldn't make up my mind when a new one came out.
wow what a place....know where I want to go on vacation next summer......lol
Oh my what a place! I can see a trip to Gastonia in my future....my poor DH lol, he's spent more weekends on shop hops of one sort or the other.....hee hee Great pictures! Thanks for sharing!
Let me know when you are going and I will meet you up there for lunch. :)
Wow, thread heaven indeed! I would go crazy in a store like that, not knowing where to start - or more likely when to stop buying!!
Martine, you hit the nail on the head. I didn't know what to do either... The only thing that made me leave was it was getting late and I have night blindness and it was an hour from home. Had to leave no later than 4, so we were only there about 1 hr. I must say, I did do some damage during that time. :)
WHAT your basket was empty? LOL What a great store! Thanks for sharing Suzanne
Not when we left. hehehe. Pictures were taken just as we entered. I'm telling you I'm suffering from whiplash today. Or maybe that is vertigo I'm feeling. I know I'll be going back that is for sure. :)
This place looks fantastic Terre - I'd love to get loose amongst those threads! Love Chris
There was so much it loosened MY threads. I couldn't concentrate. I think I have whiplash from it. hehehe.
Looks like you died and went to heaven! What a wonderful store. *4U
It was so much fun but It is going to take several trips to finish the shopping. hehehe.
I ordered thread from them- machine quilting thread! I love it! The spools are huge and the price is low and the quality is great. You can bet I'll be buying from them again. They have great specials too!
Meri
R U Kidding me? Wow! I go to Joann's to get my thread and one of the smaller spools can be six dollars and change. Do you know if they have a list of all the different colors they have? I did'nt see one on their web site.
Dawn:)
The only thing I saw were numbers. I'll be honest,I have yet to go by the exact color when I do embroidery. I'm sure you could give them a call and request something with their colors. They have an 800#
Come on now tell the truth you had a Preview of Heaven Didnt you what I cant understand is the size of your shopping basket It's way TOO SMALL lol!!!
hehehe... This is very true, but the aisle were too small for buggys. Of course I guess if my daughter and I would lose weight, it might hold one buggy. There were soooo many bins with different prices. Like thread that had previously been used they gave you baggies to separate them. It was really overwhelming to say the least. I kid you not, Jess and my ADHD set in and we couldn't concentrate on one thing. hehehe....
That is the real bargain. I think they sell it by the pound. That place I go to in Stone Mt. ,Ga sells it that way , but it is usually serger thread.
They had serger thread also Kay. they might sell to the GA place. She said they sell all over to both business and private persons.
Thanks this is an awesome store. I may order some stabilizer from there soon. Thanks again. I would love to go there. It looks like a dream store for those of us that embroidery or do machine quilting.
Sara, you are right about that. I didn't look at the price for the cotton, since I only do small quilting on my little machine and use small quilting thread. I did get their 8X8 square stick on "filmoplast. 100 squares on sale for 26.00.
Gastonia here I come, & just think I've got all kinds of realatives that live up that way. My grandmother was from Gastonia & I use to take dad to family reunions up there./Lillian
OOOOh Lillian, I see a reunion in your future. hehehe...How far are you? We could meet sometime. :)
A long way over here in Ala. But I will make it over there when it gets warmer. will let you know when we head in that direction.
Lillian, come up I85, then you drop your hubby at Statham with your grandson and I meet you there and we are off on I85 the whole way. Kay
OMG ... I thought I would have died and went to heaven...
I have been ordering from them for 3 or 4 yrs now, but have never been there. Wow!!! I love their large cone bobbin thread. The best ever!! i bought 5,000m cone for $5.00 and I bought Hugo's amazing tape for $5.99. I use it around the spools to secure. it is wonderful. I think they have a big sale each Sept. I want to go too now. Kay
Kay, we all need to meet there in September when their big sale is. There are a lot of us from NC and SC here on CUTE. That would be fun!
We could have our own party in parking lot. Bring lawn chairs for hubby and my sweetie. I understand they have live entertainment and food galore. The gals could go in side and let the men entertain each other. We must remember this come Sept. Kay
And I got $50 for Christmas, now where will I spend it???
Hmmmmmm! :-)
Just amazing - guess it is a good thing I never went to this store when I lived in NC or I wouldn't have had a moving van big enough to move it all to UT. Hehehe! And yes, I have also heard of MJ's, too.
WOW, WOW..this looks so awesome! I would love to have one here close by, you are so lucky!
I know!!! Surely there is something like this in El Paso? LOL... (everything is big in TX, but I think this one beats you) hehehehe.
Yes it does...can you believe we only have ONE Joann Fabrics store here..and it is not that big...went to one in Georgia that was really nice..yes, you have us beat..:(
We are getting a new Joanns coming in the summer. It will be huge from the looks of it. They are moving into the place that is TOYSRUS (which is moving another place.) I've only been to one Joann's. It's been a while, but wasn't too impressed with the fabric. I hope that has changed. :)
Wow! I could spend days in that store. What an awesome amount of choices. I would have to have at least one of everything. The only problem is I do not have space for what I already have. I would need to build a larger house. LOL! Like that will ever happen. Thanks for sharing
cindy B.
hehehe. Cindy, I'm in the same boat, or should I say house. hehehe... my little 9X10 room is getting more and more claustrophobic LOL...
WOW, that's alot of thread!!!!!! Lucky you, is it near where you live?
about 1 hr. away. But it is only 30 min. for my daughter...So we make a day of it when we go. :)
Looked up the directions as was annoyed at myself since we drive within a short distance of this store almost every time we travel through Charlotte. Will definitely have to stop in on one of our trips. Looks like your daughter was having a blast.
Anita, it is about 10 miles south of Mary Jo's just off Franklin. It is the only business on Webb St.on the right.
Oh , my I did stop at Mary Jo's once. All kinds of goodies!!! my sweetie takes a car nap. The hard part is getting him to stop. we stopped at Robson Anton also, but they don't have an outlet store at the factory. They are my favorite!! Kay
You lucky thing. Hopefully you now have enough thread for a lifetime?
my goodness i would like this store near me
They ship to your country also. I asked her about shipping prices and she said they charge just the cost of shipping. That is a good thing. ;)
I've never seen that much thread in one place, I bet you'll go back again....I so enjoyed looking at the pics.....thanks so much for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it. I left a website link. But I'll be honest Janet, it isn't the same as being inside the store...I guarantee you I'll be back!!!
Where is that place? It looks like I will like to spend my vacations there...******
hehehe... It's in Gastonia NC... Just a few miles from The largest fabric store in the south called Mary Jos. I wish I thought to take pictures of that place too. They are both about 60 miles from me, but well worth the trip.
Wow!! Don't think we have anything like this in the UK. Trying to find a material shop over here is almost impossible now.
Then you need to go online to www.maryjos.com and check out her fabric. She has great prices and ships all over. BTW these people Longcreek Mills, ships all over too.
wOW!! Unbelievable!! I bet it was fun to see all the colors. Have you ever used their thread? I might have to order some just to see if my machine likes it or not. Thanks for sharing the pictures with us. Hugs, Mary
This will be my first time using their thread. The have lots of stitch outs with there thread hanging on the side of the shelves and they are beautiful...
I have used their thread before and it sews fine. I originally ordered some nebs pre wound bobbins and there was some confusion with the order and they didn't come. So I called them and they made sure they were in the mail, they also added several spools of thread free just for the inconvienence. Very nice people. It is a good thing I don't live close, I don't have room for more thread. I love the pictures, it makes you feel good just to look at all that thread...
Sandy
1. Jess looking amazed
2. Jess doing a Vanna White (Wheel of Fortune) hehehe
3- 6. Every color you can imagine. The first part is Embroidery thread the last half of the building is cotton thread for quilters and sergers.
7. Ribbons...
Isn't that the truth! I had to make a potty stop while there which was back in their warehouse.... You wouldn't BELIEVE all the thread back there plus the HUGE embroidery machines... They supply many stores all over the world she said... And still sell regular customers wholesale prices.
i would love to see were is the picture terre>?????Do they ship to northern, ontario???
