I'd like to share with you my favourite abbreviation from my friend in Maine, which is, ROFLMBO, and stands for Roll On (the) Floor Laughing My Butt Off! I think it says it all, I just love it!

I am looking forward to get a teenager in the house. Would be nice with someone to explain this strange spelling/ language. You get a flower for asking, and the others a flower for answering.
I haven't had a teen in the house for about 6 years so I'm really in the dark sometimes.
I'm with you I had wondered about lol & decided that it was lots of love but sometimes it didn't work out but, laugh out loud would. Thanks for helping a slow brain. Flowers for all of you.
Clawton, don't feel bad, it's "Laughing out Loud". It came about, I'm supposing, because typing has no inflection, you just don't know if someone is serious or joking or being ironic (which is how come some people get so offended sometimes, when things are meant as a joke), so some wit came up with this little acronym to let us know it's a joke. There's another one, rotfl, or rofl, which is Rolling on the Floor Laughing. I had to ask, too, because I just thought someone else had a cat who was helping them type like mine do sometimes, LOL. OK? Hope you have lots of lol's today, Clawton, flower for you. Marji
Thanks for the information. You ladies will keep me in the know and up to date! I knew I could count on the group!
clawton, I am in your club. I do not know all these either. I would like to know more about it my self, so hope the ones that know keep helping us out. Hugs and flowers
Don't feel bad about your age. I heard on the radio ,while I was in the car, about a web site that told what all those short cuts meant. by the time i got home I couldn't remember the site. old age kicking in again or sometimers. i like lots of love.
My DD (darling daughter) texts me on our phones and the other day she sent me "K" for ok, but I didn't know that so I sent her lmnop! So you can teach an old dawg (that's dog in Georgia) new tricks. So, don't worry about not knowing. We did agree not to use abbreviations for embroidery related topics like WSS (water soluable stabilizer) remember? ;)
Thanks. I have been using wss. Guess I missed that message or before my time here??? Thanks again!
Thanks girls for clearing that up lol always thought was "laughing out loud" but think I like "lots of love" better as for ROFL had no idea what it was. FYI "for you information",TY "thank you and I'm sure teenagers could give tons of more.Flower to all and thanks for the info.
FYI was familiar but not TY. I don't do any text messages. Showing my age (SMA) Thanks.
Sometimes it means "laughing out loud", and sometimes it mean "lots of love". If a message is read in context, then the meaning is usually clear. (For example, a note of condolence was posted on another forum, ending with "lol". The bereaved was even more upset because she only knew 1 meaning: "laugh out loud".)
Clawton, so sorry for using letters, here's another one that we use. ROFL - rolling on the floor laughing. You should feel much younger now that you know, haha ROFL! Have a fantastic day, hugs and a flower.
I like this one also. The group is bringing me into this century! (I guess that is possible.) lol
