I thought we could post our resolutions here and perhaps report success or failure as the year goes on. I'll go first: my resolution for 2011 is to learn to digitise.

I really have never done the resolution thing - not sure that it works - more people end up upset come February - because they didn't hold themselves to it.

However, I would like to start a routine of getting out of the house some and doing something for me - this year.

I would like to lose weight and get back on my walking and running routine again. It will all depend on the weather being warm enough to walk or finding a place close by during the winter months, lol! As I live in cold MN. I will have to find sometrhing to do during the winter months to help with the weight lose part. I don't want to wait unitl spring & I don't do well with gyms. Maybe I'll take up skiing or snow shoeing. Would have to get equipment though.

Best way to lose weight is to eat less! Not that easy at this time of year though.

As I'm such a dreadful housekeeper, cleaning up is always on my list! I have made a great start outside these past few days, but I find inside much more challenging (there's better stuff to do while I'm inside, maybe!).

I have heard people find this site very helpful. I have not taken the time to have a proper look but cleaning up is not a problem in our house, we are all anal. lol

I have lots of resolutions. The first one is to finish my cert III in computer embroidery. I shouldn't have to much trouble with that one because I am going to love every minute of it. I want to lose weight and as I have already lost 7 kilos (15.4lbs) I should not have to much trouble getting the rest off. I would like to have more harmony in my home and I am fairly certain that God is already helping with that one. But OH dear my very biggest vice will be the hardest. Yes I am ashamed to admit it but I am a smoker and with many attempts to stop it just gets harder for me to think about. I get anxious just thinking about it. Maybe I can tackle that one this year.

I do realize that I have now opened a can of worms and all of my cute family will be on my case about this now. that might not be a bad thing.

greysewist by greysewist 30 Dec 2010

Sounds a bit like you might actually want us to 'get on your case'. I'm sure we could help support your great intentions and give you a list or ten(!) about the benefits. They say that even if you don't kick the habit this time, each attempt is one gigantic step closer. Good on you for being strong enough to even put it on your list!

I'm sure we could all help.

I smoked for over 30 years and quit many times....nine years ago I quit for good....I did it with much prayer....this was one of the hardest things I have ever done and wasn't quick either.....thank God I no longer want a cigarette.....when you get ready let us know so we can pray for you, I know you can do it.......Gods blessings Janet

sewfrenzie by sewfrenzie 30 Dec 2010

I fortunately never was a smoker, nut my husband was. He saiys the only way to quit is cold turkey. And if you seek a smoke the only person you are fooling is yourself. Not to mention oyu are torturing yourself my having to start over form day one every time you cheat. With that being said I wish you all the success and health aquired from quiting.
The best of luck to you!!!

Know so many people who cannot quit despit health reason (emphysema being one) and yet have two brother who gave up without a thought. One decided enough was enough and the other refused to pay the exhorbitant prices! Another friend got fed up and wanted to get back at a firm so concentrated on when she smoked and found something tyo do. ie at desk at work, with every cup of tea etc, so she stood up to drink her tea!

Really no major resolutions, my one big vise is addiction to embroidery. I will try to spend more time in God's Word and to stay as well and fit as possible at my age.Being a good friend to one and all I guess is my one major goal in life./Lillian

hmm not sure we all agree that your addiction is really such a bad thing! Being a bit fitter is probably a good idea for all of us, to help us be around longer to enjoy our own addictions!

fannyfurkin by fannyfurkin 30 Dec 2010

Ibow. as you can see from my post there are way worse things than having an addiction to embroidery, it is a good wholesome activity.
