home before 11 pm had we gone, they do early so we can be off the roads before those who drink and drive. Felt bad calling my friend and saying we just don't feel like going since we only see them once every couple of months. Instead I am here with the cuties. I have one thing I need to embroider so maybe I should get that done, it is for hubby for tomorrow! Take care and have a great 2011!

That would have been nice! We have no friends who live near us so we meet at the place our friends' band plays every couple of months. Missed them. Happy 2011 to you!

Happy New Year Debra! If it'll make you feel any better-you're not in it alone on the "getting old". I can honestly say that the last time my husband and I went out and celebrated New Year's with a crowd was December 31-1987 toasting to 1988-and the big toast everyone made was to us and another couple to "babies in 88"-We got our wish granted but the other couple never did get theirs. We are quite content to stay home and avoid the hangovers, drunk drivers, not to mention the huge expense of the night-it's almost comical to talk to friends January 1st and listen to them complaining about having to go back to bed to nurse the head.
HAPPY~HAPPY~HAPPY 2011 to you!!

I have emailed with so many people that said they stayed home too. I missed having someone to share our evening with but he was in front of the TV and me with the cuties! We spent all our New Years eves with our kids but they are in their 30s and sharing it with their ladies and friends. I guess I will be content that at least I get along with him....for the most part, lol!

You're not old, just being wise....my hubby and I have celebrated with family at times but for the last 30 years it is just the two of us and our kids..(last 6 just us) we liked it that way and we would play games, sing around the piano and watch movies, then have our snacks and our special pink champange (non alcoholic) and kiss under the mistletoe.....
Great memories and fun times....there are a lot of 'us' out there as I prefer not to battle the weather as well as the traffic and drunk drivers...

That's sweet! In the past 30 years we have only gone out 3 times for New Years eve but we had planned this with friends and I hated to disappoint them but with a couple of drinks I am sure they didn't miss us!

I find that the older I get the easier it is to let the younger generation do the celebrating. I feel it in my heart but the old bones want to be quieter.

I still think I can party like it's 1999. Between asthma and bad knees it's hard to dance and my friend's knees are lots worse but she barely sits down!

Hi Debra. Wishing you a healthy, happy and prosperous New Year. Laast night we went to daughters (just across the river from us) for Barbecue. We came home at 11.15pm. I felt that the yahooooing at midnight could be left up to the young ones. We had a cup to tea and quietly saw the new year in. I think our age is showing. Love Marg

Glad you had a nice time Marg, a barbecue sounds better than what we had planned. If I was 40 pounds lighter I'd feel closer to my age. I feel like I am my parents' age! They are only 18 years older than me!

Guess we're getting old too. We prefer to be home anyway- not a night to be on the roads. We watched a movie and I was looking through my seed catalog. I'm looking towards spring already! LOL

Debra, I think you were wise to stay home - you can go out with your friends another night - I am sure - if you plan it. We don't go out on nights like this - everything is too crowded and the roads are shear ice here. Have a Happy New Year - can't wait to see what you stitched up for your hubby. *4U

We go to an Army Navy club that my friend's cousin has a band and plays there only on holiday things, next one will be for Valentine's day so they don't happen often and hubby hates to go but always does even though I tell him to stay home.

Thank you! We have eaten and soon I am going to open the bottle of wine from our son's wedding, him and the wife made it and bottled it themselves at a winery! Everyone got a bottle to take home after the wedding.

Debra, you're not old you just like to have it comfortable. It's better to eat and drink at home so you can fall in your bed when you need it.
The rest of the family is sleeping now (new year is 2 hours old so I'm also here with my cuties :o) and I did my last two orders from the last year so I can stitch whatever I want for the rest of the weekend. That's something I couldn't do for the last 2months and I missed it ;-)
Big hugs for you and a happy new year
Bettina

It's not quite 10:30 pm here yet so I still have a bit of time before the wine and kiss and see the ball drop on TV so I am going to get busy on the embroidery machine now! Happy 2011!
