Super-short answer: St. Patrick was a Catholic priest who ministered in Ireland. The "miracle" that St. Patrick was supposed to have performed that earned him his sainthood was to drive all the snakes out of Ireland. Being an island, it is likely that there never were any snakes there, but that is the story.
Guess I'm dumb cause I don't have a clue but brendaleas that was very interesting. all i knew it was an Irish culture of some sort. Flowers and hugs to all
I'm guessing heaps of people don't know who St. Patrick is - but it never stops them from drinking *green* beer on St Patty's Day!!!
back a long , long, time ago, and boy grew up in Ireland, and was not treaded very nice, but learned to love the ireland and it's people throught the love of the lord. and when he was a man, he went back as a man of God. and
taught the people about the Lord. and after he died the chruch gave him st.hood. by the way I think he used the clover to teach them about how God is 3 persons God head.Father,Son and Holy ghost. I know this from watching veggie tells with my grandkids. and they say you don't learn anything from T.V. I hope I remember most of it.
not sure how the u.s. started with all the partying, but I know it has something to do with when the people from ireland came here.
Thank you for both your answer. Guess, I should of known this, however, I did not. Hugs and flowers.
St. Patrick's Day commemorates the patron saint of Ireland and is a day to celebrate Irish culture. One tradition is to pinch people who are not wearing the color green. St. Patrick's Day is Monday, March 17, 2008 this year. It is a holiday because of the VAST number of Irish who migrated to the US. <3 (that's a heart sideways) ;)
