superbe ! moi, je propose un chemin de table ... et une décoration de la table dans les tons ! et des petites serviettes avec un rappel : juste le colibri par exemple.
Nice! Beautiful colors. We have many hummingbirds that visit our yard in the spring and summer. They are awesome.
I'm glad this was brought up to the top again as I wasn't on the site when it was first posted. Ruthie you have done a fantastic job on it, I love the black borders and the blue flower especially. As it is nearly 12 months since you did it, did you frame it or something else? *4U
Cheers, Claire
Lovely and yes I would put mine into a frame and I love hummingbirds,
Love the design I love the frame I am sure thatnthis would make a beautiful quilt with othe birds or flowers,
Ruthie, this is beautiful. You did a wonderful job. I made something similar for my niece a few years ago, although mine had a white border. I then had it professionally framed. My niece hung it in her computer room that had no window. Now everyone thinks she had a window put in.***
Ruthie u have done a fantastic job, I was wondering how this would look & now I know, just gorgous. thanks 4 showing me *
wow! it is facinating, looks so great. Nice idea adding the black frame.
This reminds me of our 1 and only visit to the USA way back in 1968. We had never ever seen a humming bird before and we were fascinated by them. What a lot of work but well worth it.
Thanks elenu, I think they're fascinating birds too. Hugs and a flower for you sweetie.
Ruthie, this truly is amazing and utterly beautiful. Like most here, I too would frame it, because it is so cheery to look at and all that see it will be in amazement. Lotsa and lotsa flowers for you. I must mention that I can't believe how you have commented back to each and every person - how sweet and kind of you.
Thank you so much coco. I think it will most probably be framed, something to do with a quilt being a *huge* project, haha! Plus I'm beginning to think that framing it will show it off better. About answering everyone's comments, I feel that if people are kind enough to take the time to comment on my projects and say beautiful things about them, then the least I can do is to reply and give hugs and flowers. Plus, I'm a born *chatterbox*, so that might have a little something to do with it too, haha!!! Hugs and a flower for your kind words sweetie.
This really is quite stunning. I think i would use it as a center for a quilt, then add smaller embroidered hummingbirds all around. i've found lots of them from all the freebie sites, then you could put it on a quest bed or your bed and as a large wall hanging (like on t.v.) but it certainly is beautiful. Congrats and a flower.
Thank you bikermom, *if* I made it into a quilt I think I'd hang it - for the simple reason, it might be the only quilt I ever make, haha! Hugs and a flower for you sweetie.
Very pretty. Definately needs to be the center attraction.
whatever you do with it,I think it will worth it, because you did a beautiful piece of embroidery here!
Thank you so much, gerry, I had a lot of fun doing it, and now I'll have a lot of fun looking at it ,won't I! Hugs and a flower sweetie.
Oooh I just love hummingbirds, I don't think we have them here in Aus do we? This is gorgeous and what a clever little chicky you are combining them to make this. BTW, Have you seen the beautiful Hummingbird design (freebie) at ABC? It was my first ever download & I still haven't stitched it out. cheers & roses for your ingenuity, Meganne
Meganne, I think we love hummimgbirds because we don't have them! But we do have our fair share of beautiful birds, so we can't complain, can we? Yes, I have that ABC design, and I can't believe that you can remember which was your first download!!! But I'm pretty certain that whatever my first download was I haven't stitched it either, haha, hugs and a flower sweetie.
Aw now don't forget i'm really new to this, so i haven't been downloading that long but yes it was the first site i visited and I have a thing for hummingbirds and I just love our little Blue & Jenny Wrens & Robins & Kookaburras & oh of course Lorikeets, Budgies, Rosellas, Black Cockies.......
Ooh And I forgot I just love the red Cardinals the US have... Did you see the fabulous bird panels at Emblibrary, they're gorgeous, Heavens I should be outside embroidering LOL!
Ruthie, This is just lovely! You've done a wonderful job! My mom loves hummingbirds and if I made it I would frame it. I'd want it on display all the time. Whatever you decide it will be just lovely! A flower for U!
butterflyluvr, thank you very much, I will definitely have to have it on view all the time, I couldn't bear to have my beautiful view hidden away. Hugs and a flower sweetie.
Gorgeous! Would be beautiful wherever you decide to use it. A flower for you
Wow Ruthie...this is gorgeous! I think this would make a smashing wall hanging. A+!
Thank you so much simplyrosie, I had fun making it, and it's good to hear that you people enjoy looking at it. I'm thinking of maybe framing it somehow. Hugs and a flower for you sweetie.
Wow, I love this. Sorry no other Ideas for you. I'm still struggling with my lily one. Bought a square from, but jus 1/2" or so too small and doesn't look right. Is that black window frame done by satin stitch? How wide is it? I need a little help for mine. TY. *'s4U
OK, I just read below that the frame was a design itself, but my pic is done and 4 parts sewn tgtr already and out of hoop long time ago. Could I just do a satin stitch?!?! if so, how wide? ty
Thanks joanie, and I don't see why you can't do a satin stitch frame. I would stitch different widths on a scrap piece of fabric, then compare them to your picture to decide what width you need, don't make it too wide, or you'll lose too much of the design. You would have to make sure the lines were stitched straight, and make sure they are solid. Also I did mine in black because I felt it complimented it, rather than detracted from, the picture. Hope this helps sweetie, hugs and a flower for you.
If you can put the picture back in the frame, or a frame of some sort, to keep it taut while you're stitching the frame on your sewing machine, that will help.
Thank you sew much Ruthie. You are a real sweetie. This does help lots. I will go do it now and then post the finished project. *'s4U abundantly.
How gorgeous, Ruthie. It makes a nice picture, but if you have the stamina to embroider a quilt I'd love to see the result. Happy hunting for matching designs! And of course flower 4 U.
Thank you so much mops, and don't worry, *if* it gets as far as being a quilt - you will all see it, haha!!! More likely be something smaller. Hugs and a flower sweetie.
This is just So Beautiful!! I have a Janome giga hoop! :) What did you use for the window frame it just makes it so spectacular. Wonderful work of Art!! Thank you for sharing.
thumbie, thank you so much. I agree the window frame *makes* the complete picture. The frame was a design the same size as each individual design. So I combined the four picture designs, then added four frame designs, placing one in each quarter. Easy, then the machine did the rest! Hugs and flowers to you sweetie.
ruthie, this is beautiful, I can see it on your wall right now. A hug and flower to you. loretta
Thank you so much, Lorreta and a1lotte, flowers and hugs to you both. (a1lotte, I'll find you somewhere and give your flower.)
what a stunning design, it lends itself beautifully to all your ideas especially as a quilt which could be complimented by the cushion...a flower for you. Jo x
ruthie, WOW! This is absolutely georgous. I am sure framed up it would look spectacular. I just love Humming Birds although we do not have any here in Australia. A flower for you. Kezza2sew
Kezza, thank you very much for the compliment. Maybe we love hummingbirds so much *because* we don't have them. But we do have our own share of beautiful birds, don't we? Hugs and flowers.
I live here in Queensland west of Brisbane, a bit late answering here raals sorry....
Ruthie, seeing this piece done by you (not a professional, like Cute) is like being at a classical music concert where the piece is over & nobody applauds for a minute, because they are just stunned by the beauty. I have no words for this that would do it justice. The piece is just beautiful! Marji
Marji, thank you so much for your eloquent words of praise! I really enjoyed the challenge, and now I have a beautiful view through my *window*, and it will last forever. Many hugs and flowers for you.
oh this is gorgeous!! great job ruthie! flower coming your way
ruthie, this came out even more beautifully than the picture looked like it would. You have a real treasure here. ;)
Thanks so much for that jrob, I'm really pleased with the way it turned out, it really is beautiful to look at. Hugs and flowers.
Very beautiful work. It looks really so out as one from the room into the garden would look. Well-deserved flowers for it and for everything on the side
this is beautiful love the window effect Makes me want to try it
Thanks so much Raels, you have a giga hoop, just open the program and follow the instructions, once you've used the giga hoop, you'll be looking for *excuses* to use it all the time. Hugs and flowers.
looks really lovely its beautifull, flower for you
How lovely. It's like sitting in the house looking out the window watching the humming birds. Just beautiful, isn't machine embroidery a wonderfully creative experience? Here's flowers for everyone here.
I agree Izzy, machine embroidery is just the best, it would have taken me months (if not years!!!) to do this by hand, and thanks so much for your compliments. Hugs and flowers for you.
ruthie, great job and I know you will decide - you have such great idea's of what to do with it - I know that the one that you will use - is already there - I say something like this in a doctor's office - on the wall - not actually framed - but mounted so that the work can be seen and even touched - I guess - but it was wonderful - with small picture around it - with designs that compliment it - might be a rather striking wall - a flower for your work and inspiration and a flower to each in the community that commented thus far.
Thanks Shirlene, and thanks for the idea, I love it. I enjoyed doing this one and I'm keeping it for myself, so I'll enjoy it for years to come. Hugs and flowers to you, and happy birthday again.
Gee, thank you - you will have to take a picture of it - once you mount it and put it on the wall - thanks, again. I feel like you told me HB more than my natural family - I was going to say family and caught myself - realizing that you are part of my "CUTE" family - Hehehe! Now, they (the natual family) would want to know why they are not cute. Unending here. Hehehe!
This is georgeous! I have not downloaded the design yet, but want to give it a try. It is almost like a stained glassed window, isn't it. This is really great.
dlonna, with the black frame it does look like a stained glass window. Thanks for the sweet things you said, hugs and flowers to you.
dlonna, the frame was a design the same size as each individual design. So I combined the four picture designs, then added four frame designs, placing one in each quarter. Easy, then the machine did the rest!
That is great - will have to try it! That just may have to be my next project - can't wait.
Wonderful work. My vote goes for centerpiece in a very big floor cushion, round I think.
Thanks for the compliment sand, good idea, I like it - but think I'd have to stop anyone from putting their big feet on it, wouldn't I! Hugs and flowers.
Then try to imagine a soft and cosy floor cushion/pillow, where a tired child coiles herself up on her favourite space. She would tell everybody to keep there feet away from her place.
wow ruthie this is real beautiful great work and a flower for you gr sonja
Great job! It turned out very well! If I were you, I'd frame it. I think it is a very beautiful scene. I can't do it in one piece as I have only the small, and the Plus hoop, since I have only a Rose (HQV). I'm a beginner :=}. I dream with a bigger one, but I think it is better wait till I'm an expertise like you! Hugs and flowers!
Thank you Nini, and I think we all dream *bigger* - one day!!! Oh, and I am definitely not an expert - I'm just further along the road than you, just had a little more experience that's all. Just remember, the more you try, the more you learn, and don't be afraid of making mistakes. Hugs and flowers and keep dreaming of that larger hoop!
Hi Nini. You shall be very happy for your Rose. It is a good steady-working machine, very strong. I bought the Pfaff 2170 to get bigger hoops, but sometimes I still use my Rose. It does so nice embroidering and for Jeans its actually better than the bigger Pfaff. So enjoy it. Flowers for you and your Rose - and everyone else.
Hi Sand. Thanks for the encoragement! Though little, my Rose has already given me many hours of true hapinness. Flower for you
The hummingbird turned out beautiful. Great job. what size did it turn out to be? I would have to do it in 4 pieces if I wanted it to be of any size. I say again beautiful.
Thanks Elaine, it really is a beautiful design, and I'm glad I decided to do the frame with it. You would need a 200mm x 200mm (slightly less than 8" x 8") or larger to combine all four designs and stitch in one. Thanks again and hugs and flowers.
hi Ruthie, My machine is a Bernina but I can only go 5x7. I may get brave at some point and try putting it together maybe with felt to make the frame. Thanks again for your beautiful project.
