When I have the problems with the capitals is when I use PE Basic and try to put the PES onto my Brother card. The PES files simply do not show up as an option to put on the card. Without changing anything else, but just changing the suffix to lower case letters, PES to pes, makes them appear as choices and then they are available to put on the card. It's just that simple. I first noticed it when I purchased a font set from someone, can't remember who, and I couldn't get my PE design to recognize the files. It took me, "hightechgrammy," queen of photoshop, lover of slapstick, developer of websites, meatloaf winner, twenty-four year teacher of children, lover of Boyd's Cats and real cats, procrastinator, fan of Raffi, video editor, Champion of Monopoly, Boggle, and Chictionary, bean-burner, avid user of social media, quilt-maker, Mom of three, grandmother of five, as well as crazy song, depression glass, and Terri Lee collector... two days and finally after trying every hightech solution I knew, I tried simply tried changing the suffix to lower case. Poof! It worked. Strange - huh!
I'm sorry. I don't know if there is anther way to label them except for doing 2 posts, which is what we were trying to avoid. I'll ask Lee if she knows.
Hi, i wish there was another way but when posting the designer does not have a choice. It automatically post the larger PES in caps and the smaller one in lower case. May Veronika would know why.Sorry wish i could help.
Hugs Lee
Plus when posting a design,it only lets you post the first 3 letters of the format.
I've been wanting to ask that question for a while now. Glad someone finally did. Thanks
For some reason, since I chaned from Editor Lite 4 to Editor Plus 6 I cannot download either. I am not clued up on all this but hope to go for lessons soon!
I have no idea about how to fix your problem but just for your information, I have been converting the pes and the PES for smithandsmith and I have been doing it in version 4.0 so that older machines can use it too. I wonder if really new software can't read the old versions?
I don't think this will answer your question exactly, but it does make a difference to me. My sewing machine does not recognize the capital letters when I use PES. I have relabel every single design that comes in with capital letters to pes. It is weird. I use PEDesign 5 and if I want to use it, I have to do it. Does anyone else have this same little glitch?
I didn't have a problem dl the PES. I use the PED-Basic...I just checked to make sure and I do have PES that are showing up, IHTH ;D *2U
hightechgrammy, I've never heard of that problem before. I'm wondering if it's a capital letter issue or size issue. Does your machine take larger than 4 inch designs?
It does take the 5x7 and the 6x10 hoops. It is just weird. i call it a "feature" LOL. It took me quite a while to figure it out. I just keep on changing the letters to lower case and we get along just fine. I think my sewing machine has special needs - ha ha. My son also has special needs, so I'm used to it :-) You just do what you need to do.
I don't have a problem using PES with PEDesign Full Package. It sounds strange to me and I feel badly that you have to go through that extra step.
Eric
I'm so glad you asked this question! I have been wondering the same thing. I don't usually use pes so I didn't worry about it unless that was the only format.
You are welcome. All the time I just DL and thought it didn't matter but now I know that they're 2 different sizes...FIESTA ;D *2U
You are probably talking about the designs I convert for smithandsmith. She starts them in the sew format and for some reason the sew "4 inch" is actually larger than 4 inches and people with the Brother 4 inch hoop can't use the original size. So, we post the original size and label it PES. Then we post the smaller size and label it pes. Sometimes reducing the design squishes the words or makes the design odd so I don't do it or we post more than one pes option.
I also try to remember and post a comment with the pes/PES design dimensions.
There is one design that recently had a mistake and 2 different designs were posted in one post. That's a rare mistake and a comment does mention the problem.
If you have any more questions feel free to ask me or smithandsmith.
OK SM, today was the first time I paid attention and I guess I need to go back an dl the ones that I missed...THANKS ;D *2U
I am not sure, why they show that way....but on my designs, if I am uploading two sizes, I will upload to the same posting. I usually upload the smallest size first, and then the larger set of formats. To keep both sizes you must change the name or number of one of them...I usually ADD a 2 to the end of the numbers, by clicking twice so I don't "erase" the whole name.
My computer automatically adds the 2. But I guess all computers don't do that and it might write over the first one.
