and on muscle relaxants, so he has been unable to go anywhere. Well, at first I told him no, I wanted to clear up some of the sewing room. I got to feeling bad about not going with him, and went back and told him we would go if he felt up to it. Well - guess what his idea of going "into town" was? He wanted to go to Lowe's. The one store I probably hate more than the grocery store. But, I put on my big girl panties, and sucked it up and went with him. I did get lunch out of it, but I guess it was good to get him out of the house some. Wonder if he will go with me to JoAnn's tomorrow? LOL

I have to commend all of you Cuties who love Lowes and Home Depot. I think that I got burned out when we were remodeling and that was sometimes 2-3 times each day on the weekend. I will go into it with him, but I know nothing about the wiring, the studs, or the things that he looks at. I did manage to go look at some storage bins, and etc. I used to like going to look at the new baths, but we redid both baths a little over a year ago, and that is too pricey to think about doing it again. LOL

Are we married to the same man? LoL!!! My husband only goes to Joann's if he feels bad that we haven't been going anywhere for awhile and I've been babysitting my GD to much! But I would rather he not go with me because I feel like I have to rush and he is so bored!!!

I don't mind so much going to Lowes. Love looking and wishing in there. Now that my husband is retired he does go with me to Joanns. Although, he may wait in the care, which I like better anyway. When he's right with me I feel more rushed.

What is with this thing about Lowes and Home Depot with men? I think my son has his truck set on auto pilot to head straight to one of those places or either Best Buys (computer stuff)! I know he has their phone #'s programmed on him cell!!!! Even when I talk to him when he is in the Service Van and working, he is either going to Home Depot or Lowes! He can not even go to the same grocery store 2 times in a row but you can bet he hits "his" 2 places daily and sometimes more than just once! I guess it is a guy thing!!!!!!

Enjoy your outing to Joann's! I love Lowes, Home Depot, heck I even like our little ACE hardware store...it's amazing how many items can be found there that can be repurposed for quilting and sewing; like a 4 foot long metal ruler....(hey, it was 80% off! I couldn't resist!) and is great for cutting quilt backs and batts...or metal washers I use to make flower centers...(gather fabric around them, spray starch the dickens out of them and press! Perfect little circles!, etc.
And I guess I'm lucky, my DH actually plans weekend get-aways to fabric shop hops, museums that have textile/quilt or sampler exhibits.... now you know why it's lasted 32 years! *'s for all.

I Love going to Lowes/ Home Depot hardware. My great find was a horse feeding bucket (hangs on fence. I use them for my trailing flowers.Much prettier to look at than a wooden fence. Also found clamps.Mini ones I use to close the chip bags large stronger ones I use to hold quilts I hang in my sewing room. My garden wand was also found there Now I can reach hanging baskets. Just go and you'll be surprised what you can use in the craft, kitchen or sewing room.Just be happy he wanted you to go.I also teach piano so don't get me started on the music store.Right now I've been going to the artist store for paint can't afford that anymore.New paint is almost $150.00 for all the colors I need.

I love my outings with my daughter - we have a lot of the same interestest, and we usually get a bite to eat - but I do enjoy going with hubby - just don't like Lowes.

I'm sure it did his ego well for you to go with him. Nothing seems to lift their spirits like a trip to Lowes, even if they do not purchase anything. I usually wind up in the garden area looking at bird feeders etc. so he can look where ever he wants. Sometimes just getting out of the house together is good for both of you./LIllian

Well if you had not been out in an age I am sure if it were me I would want to be off to a sewing based shop for a good look (& buy too). I also prefer to go off on sewing trips by myself or with my closet cutie friend. The plus point about going out minus the other half is that they dont see what you buy or how much you have spent. The goodies can then be put away. If anyone thinks this is not fair on my other half he does the same back. Neither of us question the other with the needs of the ? hobby or is it an obsession?
Jusst thinking from reading the post below that I dont live near any large shops that one can get lost in for more than 5 mins let alone an hour or even - bliss - half a day

now now now you're lucky it's only lowe's, try being married to a musician and going to one of the mega music stores. Jeez several hours for a music stand! *giggle* but then he did spend 2 days with me at a craft fair so guess I shouldn't mind, he is a sweetie. But you were a good girl and now you can go to Joanns!

bOTH my DH and I carry books along to read. When he goes to Lowes or sporting goods stores, I wait in the car and read. WHen I go to fabric shops, he waits and reads. I always get lunch out of the deal. So that works for both of us. Hugs, Mary

hahahaha!

Lowes in Australia is menswear and until I read Naniesara's post I wondered why you wouldn't want to shop with your hubby to buy him new clothes, I would be so happy if dh was that interested in looking good!!!!!!!!!

NOW, I get it. hahahahaha!

We have Bunnings hardware stores here in Australia and Spotlight craft stores.

So of course my favourite shopping centre is called Tuggerah Super Centre because at one end is Bunnings and across the car-park is Spotlight, I'll leave the rest to your imagination... LOL!!!

Ok Meg - that is funny. DH has not bought himself any new clothes for so long he about flipped out when he saw the prices of suits when we had to get him a new one last year. He used to wear suits and dress shirts to work all of the time - but that has been some time.

Good to hear you put on your big girl panties and sucked it up and went with him. Hehehe! I hope he allows you to go to JoAnn's or he goes with you tomorrow. I don't think that I will be going into any Lowe's or Home Depot any time soon and I doubt I will be going to JoAnn's either - but if I did go into JoAnn's you can bet that Rick would want to stay in the car. Hehehe!

Gee wheeze I love to go to Lowes and look at of all things new tools power that is, I have in the past cut wood shapes to paint and made a few things. I love to use a jig saw and a router. I even got one for Christmas a few years ago. I also got a work mate bench one year also. My GD loves to go to Lowes she will be four on the 11th of this month. Hey maybe he will go with yo to JoAnns after all one day..

Oh - you sound like my daughter - we get her power tools, but DH says she scares him to death. But, she is a single mom, and does what she has to do. She even has run electrics - and that is frightening to me.

I HATE to shop with my DH, but I have figured out how to make it work to my advantage. I go into the fabric store and spend some time looking for exactly what I'd like to have but it is too expensive. He usually comes in to find me and hurry me up. I tell him, I'd really like to buy this item and he says, Just get it and hurry up so I can get out! He he! It works every time! Is that cheating on my DH or what?

Have no idea what Lowes is but guess it is like our Builders Warehouse, which I love. I can spend hours there - almost as many hours spent in sewing shops!!!

When my sweetie goes into Lowe's or Home depot it is a mission to only go to and purchase the 1 item on his mind. I am not allowed to get side tracked to look at any thing else. need less to say , we don't shop together very often. i do have a friend that can out shop me. I will look up and she is gone, no where to be seen. I do locate her via cell phone and she can be the other side of the store.

First, I don't mind Lowes when it is less than a 4 hour shopping trip - also home Depot. There are lots of interesting things to look at. Second, My DH waits in the car when I fabric shop, there are a few places that have a Borders of a hardware store next to the fabric shop. Then he browses for as long as I do 3rd, I'm jealous of all of you that have multiple stores. We do have 2 fabric stores & a hardware store but no name brands. We 'do' Lowe's Home Depot etc when on vacation

Lowe's has lots of cool stuff! Hubby asked if I wanted to go along this evening so I went, he ran into the bookstore, I ran into Bed, Bath and Beyond where they were sold out of what I went for, a quick stop at Walmart for diabetes things the JoAnn's! He waited in the car but then came in to use the restroom and looked for me and gave up, I was in plain site getting organza so I can try the flowers and he didn't find me so he was in the car when I came out. Of course then he asked if I was hungry so we went to the buffet as usual. He starts ANOTHER diet Monday! He has tried every one and used to lose weight but gains it back. The last attempts were Weight Watchers AGAIN, then through the hospital diet place where you have 2 drinks a day and a meal and he didn't lose so now it is Jenny Craig AGAIN! $$$$$$$$$$$$$

I wish him luck with the diet - it i very hard to yo-yo. I have been on WW for some time, and had started to gain a little back - just have to be diligent - and stay away from the buffets. That would kill me. LOL

lol...I'm proud of you for sticking it out. DH may be down in his back again by tomorrow when you want to shop at JoAnn's. My dh does go along but has learned to sit in the car and read while he waits. The young ladies where I shop and I have gotten to be pretty close so we have to a little gab session too which can take up more time than we intended and they usually reward him for being so patient as they will take him out a fresh cup of coffee...they've spoiled him. (Shop in smaller city)

When I started to read this I thought Lowe's was a mens clothing store (it is in Australia )& wondered what you had against it .In the 80's we always went looking for the blooper painter because it was always a good buy if you liked the colours they created by mistake.I always take a book or something to do if we are going somewhere waiting around is likely to occur.

by capoodle 08 Jan 2011

My DH has been known to follow me into the fabric store. He does retreat to the car to wait. Have no problem going into Lowe's Hardware as long as I can look at the blooper paint. Have used practially all blooper paint to repaint our house inside and out.
