use a thick dryer sheet instead of cutaway or tearaway stabilizer to make your project smell pretty, its especially lovely on projects that you are giving as gifts..

put it between the stabilizer if you dont like using it instead of stabilizer..its only an idea..if you dont like it dont do it..I have done it before an dnever had a problem with my machine or my fabric or my skin. I did use a piece of stabilizer behind it I think after I did it the first time. dont get all up in arms, its only an idea..

I'm sorry but I have to disagree. I was specifically told in a class I attended after getting my embroidery machine NOT to use the dryer sheets due to the chemical residue that would be left in my machine.

Dryer sheets are NOT meant to be on the skin! Even after washing they can cause adverse reactions even in people not sensitive to 'every day' substances. When used in a reasonable manner in the dryer you may still be exposed to some degree of chemicals even so they are considered 'safe'. I am sure the mfr. would agree that they are not to be in contact with human skin or such things as dish towels that touch our foods. I am sure you did not know this but after seeing what chemical exposure did to my dad, he died of cancer, I felt obligated to respond. There are a number of places on the Net that talk about this. One such site, even tho they do not advocate many product additives, is factual and reasonable on their assessment of this.

WE USE HYPOALLERGENIC PRODUCTS IN OUR HOUSE ALSO WE USE ENVIROMENTALY SAFE PRODUCTS IN OUR HOUSE. most of them are safe products. none of us have had adverse reactions to the dryer sheets getting stuck in our clothes and wearing them for the day in a sweatshirt. I have used them in clothes and embroidery for years..and never had a problem. You can even use USED ONES they are very strong fiberous material and hold their sent for ages. THEY COME HYPOALLERGENIC AND ARE SAFE but its a personal choice like everything else. If you are allergic to trees dont hug one!!

I've been using them for quite a while and have no problems with them. I started saving the used ones, iron them flat, hoop and sew away. Still smells nice and I'm recycling.

funny I saw this on another site but last year I did this when I ran out of stabilizer when I was doing my little hearts for valentines day..My friend said use this so I did and it worked great..and they smelled so nice I have used them many times on little chachet bags and little dresser bags..its a neat idea. perfect where tearaway can be used. Not for where a permanent stabilizer is needed. only good where a watersoluable or tearaway can be used..I use them on pillows, cachets, sweatshirts (use 2 and put 1 at a 45 degree angle for heavy items).

remember there are thin dryer sheets and thick ones. the cheap ones are thin and dont work as well. I prefer snuggles and downy. they tend to be heavier and have more scent. the scent also holds up longer on them.
