My husband and I took a "joy ride" in the snow and made a few pictures. This is in Dekalb county in Alabama. I hope to post pics.

We missed the huge snow in our part of VA, but are hoping you are doing well with the snow. I love the photos of your childhood home; so beautiful. My daughter is snowed in (middle of SC) but I'm glad we've had less snow than we expected. The ice is dangerous enough. DH had to get out to the bank this morning, already.

I'm sure your glad the snow missed you. We have been out playing in the snow this afternoon with several family members. We are a close family and love getting together and having fun. My DH is planning on going in to work tomorrow. I'm sure I'll be keeping our two G-Sons the rest of the week.

Oh, the memories of "Home"! This puts me in mind of where I grew up in Mississippi. I especially love the barn. My favorite spot to play was in the hayloft with my two brothers. I'm a farmgirl, for sure! LOL

How beautiful! It's amazing to think you have snow. I was just there in October and it was hot. LOL... We received sleet last night, so now we have ice on top of the snow. We haven't received a snow plow down our street yet. (could be cause it is a dead end street and no where to go. hehhee)

Thank you Terri, yes it doesn't happen all that often, so we try our best to enjoy it. It as melted a little, it's 33 degrees right now, but it will be here for awhile because the next few day are going to be below freezing durning the days.

Yes, Memories of "Home"! My husband and I bought a spot of land from my parents, so we live just down on another road from the "Home" place. We also played in the barn loft some, when we wern't working in the fields!

Beautiful. Our daughter lives in Huntsville & couldn't get to work so the whole family played in the snow! She grew up in Northern VA so had snow, but the 2 kids are having a ball. Knoxville also had a lot of snow. But we just stay home & enjoy the view! And the birds were waiting on hubby today to bring out MORE seeds & fresh (meaning unfrozen!) water in the birdbath!

Thank you! We have to enjoy it as much as possible because we don't get snow every winter. We had fun with our GSons Christmas Day in the snow. This snow is so podwery you can't have snowball fights or build snowmen. But I made snowcream yesterday and I might make some again today!

Oh sweetie, we are snowed in here in Georgia too. People in the North don' t understand that we don't have snow plows to clear the roads. It happens so seldom here. I don't plan to leave my home for days.

I know, It's really something when we get snow! We all go crazy! It's always fun when a child sees snow for the first time isn't it? Someone came by plowing our road a little while ago, I think it was a neighbor not the county or state workers.

How often do you get snow there? I am in Ohio so we get it all the time. Expecting a big snowfall over the next couple of days. Beautiful pic!

Some winters we do not have snow at all. We did have a "White Christmas" this time. So when it snows we try to enjoy it. I must say it isn't as much fun as it was as a child! Thanks

Goodness! I hope that isn't coming to Virginia! We are expecting a couple of inches but ice on top of that!
Your farm is just lovely. It would make a beautiful Christmas card. Thank you for sharing with us!

It may be coming your way! We may also have ice. There is kinda like a thin crust on top of the snow. The snow is so powdery that it will not stick together well enough to make good snowballs or snowmen. Thanks, My Mom still lives there. Yes, I guess it would make a good Christmas card.

Very pretty barn. I grew up on a dairy farm and this barn reminds me of one of the farms we lived on. I will always love the country. Judy

Living in the country is all I've ever known. The barn isn't used like it once was. I can remember my Dad milking cows in this barn when I was a child. My Dad passed away in 2006 but my Mom still lives there.

Roads are closed here also, but we have a E-Z Go cart which is kinda like a golf cart but more powerful, made to use on a farm, so we went for a ride in the snow. It is beautiful, but it will be a mess when it starts melting.

I just saw you said Alabama in your post. I meant Macon, Georgia; we too have a Dekalb Co. near Atlanta.

Beautiful! Some of us from the North do know you don't have snow plows and also understand you don't have the experience with driving in that weather. We only have said experince because of where we live, not by choice, lol! I hope you are staying safe and warm! And pack and emergency kit with food, water, blankets and a cell phone if you must venture out in it. We do up here in the forzen tundra of MN. Its probally not as cold down there, but up here we stay with our vehicles or risk freezing to death. Its not much fun but its safer. Hopefully you thaw out soon, or us Northerns will not be able to enjoy your beautiful southern states when we flee the cold up here.

designcrazy by designcrazy 11 Jan 2011

It is a big deal when we get snow! Most people here do not know how to drive in snow & ice, so it's best to stay in and be safe. It isn't as cold just around freezing. Thank you

I know, maybe you won't be out more than a day or two at the most. Where my husband works is closed again tomorrow. I'm trying to upload some pictures but having trouble.
