what say we start up an auction of these items, and funds raised we can donate to the flood relief fund. If we do it through ebay as a charitable thing, I think we can list them for free. I have just finished a bright yellow beach bag, I will start the ball rolling with that, and I have a couple of baby rugs I can finish too. What about the rest of you, interested in chipping in? Its often easier than giving money to make something, and everyone is a winner. Its up to you now cuties. Ruth

I have been going into my cupboards today.Tomorrow I am off to get some toothpaste, and bushes, tissues, shampoo school books etc and box all up.I do have more than I need. I then will find who is collecting for the ones in my local area of Toowoomba.Thankyou for thinking of the ones in need in Qld.By the news the rain is heading south so ones down your way may need some help.Lv Sandra

Sounds like a good idea. How do we go about it.

I agree sounds good but who would coordinate such an endeavour? Perhaps we could send photos to one person to list, then post from where you are...even furniture...which would need to be picked up probably.

Sounds like a well thought out plan, Ruth and good thinking on your part! Not sure how it'd work. Does that mean you'd have to then transfer the winning bid amount to the chosen charity(once you receive it), or is it set up in advance to be paid to them directly by the buyer? Interesting concept and a nice thing for you to do.

I would love to do something to help. i have never listed anything on ebay before, but i do have a couple of towels and hand towels i could embroider.
It would be nice to be able to help with the clean up but even if I could get there i suspect i would be more a hinderance than a help. lol

Great idea Ruth. I have Household items I could actually give to someone in need. Just trying to find out who will take them.

Meganne I have items too, sadly at this stage all the groups want is money, and some people are just not in a position to give that. I made a donation at woolies this morning when I went shopping, but as the lady behind me said, with the rise in interest rates and the cost of living, it has hit people hard. We can all donate our time or something we own, but they dont seem to want that. Cheers Ruth

One of the problems would be that there is limited access to lots of places and those items would also need to be sorted by someone??? Money is easier to transport as it's sent via banks etc and people can then get what they most need, hopefully. I think donating via a supermarket or bank etc is prob the easiest thing for people to use in the early stages. Well done.

I'm afraid we are asset rich and cash poor at the moment, all we have to give is extra possessions we CAN afford to part with.

Maybe in a few weeks things will be different and the Sallie's or Vinnie's may be looking for larger goods.
We'll hang on to them for as long as we can.
