A hint for our threads while being stored. Some of my thread does not have a way to secure the end while sotred. I bought little pony tail eleastics for babies, and use these for those spools.

I just found your question. I used to use the pony tail elastics until today. I ordered "Hugo's amazing tape. It is not sticky but is reusable. It comes in 1" x 50' or 2" x 50. You cut to what ever length you want. My spools look so neat now. I used probably 30 ft of it to do all of my spools.
