hemmed for a Gala tomorrow night. Any ideas on how I can shorten this skirt without a 2nd person to pin it for me?

Welcome back. Glad you had a warm climate to relax and have a little fun in...hate that you've come home to cold and snow, but its winter and to be expected.

Thanks. I dread going out in such cold weather but I am sure I will enjoy myself.

Good to see you back and happy to hear you had a great time...do you happen to have another long shirt that fits good lengthwise...you can use that for a fit pattern, it is hard when it is just you around to do the fit, but it's worked for me, give it a try and good luck!

Great idea and I do have another long skirt that now is too small. Cursed weight gain!

Welcome back. So glad you had a wonderful restful time. As far as your skirt goes, using the measuring tape, look in the mirror and measure from your natural waist how far you want the skirt to reach (top of shoes, ankles, etc...) make a note of that number. Then lay your skirt flat on a even surface, or you can do this with the skirt hanging up, then measure from the waist seam, (which is normally where your natural waist is)not the band, to the length you need, then pin as GerryVB suggested. Try it on. If you want, you can tape it around with painters tape and sew it, but when you remove the tape, be careful not to just pull or rip fast it will distort the hem. But your needle will perforate so you can easily tear it... hugs, Terre

good to see you again. I love giraffes they have such beautiful eyes!
About the skirt if it's hanging alright now, but it just have to be shorter you can pin it yourself by using a messaring tape and pin the same distance all around from the hem to the lenght you want it to be.than put it on to be sure it's alright (look in the mirror) and make a shorter if it fitts well.Good luck!

Thanks for the help. I think I need to dtop a measuring tape to see how far it is to the floor and go from there. I love giraffes also so it was a real treat for me to be able to do this.

So happy you are home and what a great experience to feed a giraffe.

I don't know how to assist you with the skirt hem - but I will say a prayer for you that you accomplish it for the Gala. *4U

Thank Shirlene. I need all the prayers I can get to get the skirt done and to enjoy this event. I really don't want to dress up to go out in the snow and cold.
