I have plastic containers too. One is for blue to green, one for yellow to red and one for the rest.
And that is hard enough to decide which ones to use in my next project.
How does this lady decide which one to pick?
With this stock I would never ever get to a start and I am giving thanks for a limited budget. hehehe.
I like her organization ideas, wish I could see how she stores her patterns, ribbons and etc. BB
OH MY GOODNESS! She probably has as much invested in shelfs and plastic containers as she has her sewing machine! It must be nice to have all that space. It does look like a warehouse!
Jo thanks so much for sharing with us.
And I thought I was getting organiszed.haha
Wish I had some of her stash.
Hugs Yvonne
I hate wasting time on dusting & keeping things in see through containers is a good idea but she must have spent days sorting it out in the beginning. The cost of the containers & shelving units must have added up even if they were bought from sales, the room seems very large too.
She must really like sorting. I agree, it must have cost a fortune on all that plastic!
Now that is a STASH!!! But she takes all the fun out of it. hehehe...I could use some of her Heart fabric.LOL...
If I was this organized, I'd feel guilty about buying more fabric!! When you can't find something you like..you go buy more!! Then find you had something that would do. Oh well.
It is early morning here in SA. Loved reading all these comments. Thank goodness all the cuties who have sent in comments are what I call "normal"!!! Thank you Jo for sharing this site.
Apparantly I'm doing something wrong here...wait the 1 yr old GD just pulled the papers from the shelf!!! I walk into my sewing room and have fabric coming out of the bookcase, I also have plastic containers and containers in the closets that no one (but me) knows what's what. I used to be a neat freak and saw what it did to my kids and husband, I'm not a messy, but I live in my house. I'll keep my "stash" just the way it is with a little less organization and more caous (sp?).
I don't know. I love my fabrics, but this is tooooo sterile. I have to have my fabrics where I can touch them! And... with them all behind the plastic, you can't see their true colors. They are all muted - Yuck. And besides, she never gets to dust them. Mine are all neatly stacked where they can get dusty. She probably keeps plastic on her lampshades, and plastic on her sewing chair and plastic on her pin cushions. You have to have a little dust in your sewing room...... don't you think??? Sewing is such a tactile experience. I bet she doesn't even step on pins on her floor - or have cats on her sewing machine ..... geeeeeze louise I think she's missing something here called LIFE!! That is what I call an A ++++ personality
Actually, I should take that last part back about missing Life. I spent three hours just making a little quilt for a cat at the shelter. I think Maybe I'm the one who's missing on something called LIFE. HE HE He - To each Her Own..
Caring for animals is definitely not a lack of life- I think it is one of its best parts. ^*.*^ (tried to draw a cat with the keyboard).
Very, very organized. Not only by color but print. Beautiful stash. I have a stash but not THAT orgainized. Thanks for sharing!
I have to show this to my DH, he always complains about my fabrics, Oh boy!!! I thought I have fabrics but she is the queen of materials. I have my fabrics in plastic containers,I added two or three perfumed soaps so the fabrics have a pleasant scent and keeps bugs off.
Want a container???
Have a container!!!
They're great for storing all your fabric stuff.
But sometimes
We can't be bothered,
We toss our fabric down among the dust and fluff.
Well..... some folks do.... not me, of course.... O:}
AlmaG.
wow is she ever organized....I don't have all of mine in containers as I like for my fabric to breathe, but she is definitely well organized....if I was that well organized, I would probably get twice as much done.....but I like my stash and organization done on shelves....by colors....
well, I just told my husband I need to go shopping for fabrics, I dont have enough, and He told me to quit looking her sewing room. lol

Boy am I amazed. My husband thought I had a lot of fabric, I cannot wait to show him yours. good job

Wow! Oh! to have that much room for a start, but I would have it that way for maybe a week then it would all be mucked up. Not that organized!!
Now THAT'S what I call organised. WOW! What a stash!
I wouldn't have enough to fill even one shelf section of her containers. I even had to go and buy some material and batting this morning for a project.
I think I need to get myself out shopping...
PAULINE WHERE ARE YOU????????????
Hugs n roses, Meganne
OMG - I am soooo JEALOUS!!! I would LOVE to shop in her stash! I thought I was organized, but I've got nothing over this gal - she's the supreme queen of organization! Hope she's not planning on moving anytime soon - LOL!
WOW! I thought it was some kind of warehouse...fantastic.
Did you see the gorgeous sewing machine covers on the right of the page?
oh my good God....thats amazing....soooooo jealous!!! Thanks for the link jo!
WOW! Now I can organize all my fabric. I just have it all the place. Wanted to do this but didn't know how I wanted it. Thanks for showing us this. Mildred
I love it! All that organizing was no doubt very time consuming... but, WOW.
Wouldn't you like to see how she organized her designs?
Oh my goodness! I love the organization for sure... however I can't imagine having that much fabric to manage. I'm not one that buys unless I have a need. Thanks for sharing! :-0
She is organized I have to say that - how does one afford all that fabric, supplies and space? I wouldn't mind going in and using up some of that fabric she has stored away.
omg it makes mine look really sick ,oh to have all that fabric .I think i would sew till i couldn't see no more & likely go on 4or5 hours sleep. This is for sure marerial heaven LOL carolyn
Wow even her ratty knickers are nice lol (have to read the blog to "get" it lol).
Wish we had basements here xXx
I´m glad that I don´t have that much fabric. I have more than enough and don´t have that much space. But I tink she can organize very well. Yvonne
Oh my Goodness! That'a alot of fabric and plastic containers! I do not have enough space to have that much fabric! Lucky for her that she does.
Started putting a piece of fabric with the size/yardage in a photo book. Lost track of the photo book somehow. Must have got lost in the stash. lol
Hokey Schmokes! I thought I had a stash! Ha! And just how many lifetimes will this person need to use all the fabric?! Thanks for sharing.
I say good for her but I am content with my own stash.
Did you read the comments on her system? I like the one from the husband that wrote: "As a quilters husband, might I respectfully submit that an increased intake of alcohol might help?"
October 23, 2010 8:55 PM
hahaha No, I have to go back and look into all the nooks and crannies and see stuff she's actually made out of some of it. I just had to share it!
She doesn't have time to actually make anything--besides it might mess up the stash :)
OMG! & WOW! I'm at a lose for words. Umm, envy would be me, umm, does this person have a obsessive compulsive disorder? My husband would about have a fit if I had that much materail stashed. I thought my dozen and a half totes was compulsive, lol. Guess I've got a long way to go to get to that degree. I too store mine in the basement, lol! But I have told myself, its getting out of hand, you need to stasrt using it or get rid of it, its to much. She sure as a lot of money invested in her fabrics and storage containers. To much fabric and not near enough time for what I already have.
Incredible!! I just wish she was my next-door neighbor, who would say to me, "come on over anytime and help yourself!" Now, wouldn't that be fun!!*
WOW...this system takes all the fun out of looking through several storage bins before finding what you're looking for. I'd like to know how much was spent on the storage bins. I would have bought more fabric instead..lol. Too much organization for me.
Wow! I wish I had the time, room, fabric, compulsion? to do this!
I do like it very nice and neat but this is way to organized for me to much work to little time. Maria
Looks great, but TOO much of a collection for ME!! I, also like to use the clear plastic containers to be able
to preserve the fabric, as well as be able to see the colors/types. Her collection is wonderful, but even though neatly organized, seems to definitely be an "addiction"! As in collecting embroidery designs, I will never live long enough to stitch them all, BUT, I HAVE them! LOL I admire the organization system, but, "Too much fabric; Too little time"! (Same is true with designs).
Angel
Wow...she had quite a stash of fabric. I admire her for being so organized. I start out with good intentions but they never last. Thanks for sharing.
WOW! This is really organization to the nth degree. I don't have a fraction of this enviable 'stash' unfortunately. But if I did, I'm sure it would not be so neat. I'd have no time to sew if I attempted to maintain it so neatly. Nor would I enjoy the surprise of 'finding' a piece I'd temporarily lost- as I so often do. So I guess I'll just have to drool over this perfection and muddle along as I usually do
Wow, way to much for me, I only survive in unorganized and chaos!!Thanks for the peek.
For me - that is just too orginized. Wish I had all that space!!!
