underground heat in our shop. Its froze and my husband is out there trying to thaw it before its at the point of no return. Power was out for 5 1/2 hours in this horrible cold! I'm praying he gets it thawed in time. It'll cost thousands to fix, if he can't get it moving.

So happy to hear that you got the water moving and no burst pipes! It is always scary when your power goes out. We have gas heat but the furnace won't work without electricity also. I guess I won't complain too much that it is only 12 degrees F. here in Canton Ohio at almost 4 in the afternoon and the sun has been out! Didn't bother to look at the temp this morning, wish I had! We did brave the cold though to hit a super sale on vacuum cleaners (paid $50 for a refurbished $160 Hoover bagless!) and then late lunch at the buffet.

Well praise God there are no problems it is very cold here also but that is normal for me .We have a wood stove for heating our house so if hydro goes out it is only the fan that quits so no big deal.Today the sun is shinning but its still -30 .God bless carolyn

He's got it thawed and hasn't lost any water pressure! An excellent sign!! Thanks for all the well wishes and prayers! It's still -1 with -8 wind chills, So I'm so glad he got it thawed! I just filled him up on hot pig roast, potatoes and carrots, with a hot chocolate to take the chill out of his bones.

Wishing you much luck getting those pipes thawed out. We also worry about our well water pump freezing when we loose power. It's quite a concern dealing with freezing pipes.

Prayers going up for this situation be cleared soon for you!! I understand the cold blizzardy weather in your area has been horrendous this winter. Here in central Georgia we have had a really colder winter than normal, but the coldest it has gotten has been about 16 degrees. I do not know how it would work with your setup, but, I always leave a couple of my inside faucets
slightly dripping to keep the water lines from freezing, when I am aware of freezing forecasts. Nothing is more frustrating than long power outages and water unavailable, and even more so, the time and costs of line repairs. Hope all works out well for you quickly!

Problem is the water pipes that are underground are for in floor heating in the shop so theres no way to let them drip or even get them to circulate when the power goes out. If we could get the water to circulate then the pipes wouldn't freeze. I ran into town this morning to buy a generator to get the water pump circulating, but it was to late already, so hes out there with a blow torch and a tent working on the pipes. Sounds like he's making progress though!

Oh, I hope it does too! Been in that position. Very, very cold snap here in Michigan even thought the sun is shining. Hope you have a generator.

Went out an bought one today. The house is fine, as we have all our pipes indoors, its the shop we are worrying about because the pipes are underground and go from an outdoor woodheater to the shop.
