This is a picture of the pink heart I downloaded from brother-usa. I edited it to remove the roses in the center and added some different color stops then put a name in the center. The colors don't look right in my picture but the blue heart is really purple and beige. Now my question is, it is ok that I do that to a design for my own use, correct? I am assuming, so long as I don't sell it as my own, I can do this.??????

First of all, I love both hearts. Your edited version is lovely and looks completely different. I have had this design a long time with the side piece and intruction from Brother to construct the heart box. I stitched the side piece twice and both times there is an area...in the same spot...that the final scalloped lace trim did not catch the side satin stitches. I'm terribly disappointed in that part of the set because I wanted to use that piece for napkin rings and the heart for coasters to match some Corning Corelle dishes I've had forever with the heart pattern.

The heart stitched beautifully and I used three layers of fabric WSS in addition to adding pieces on the bottom and top after most color stops. I love the heart and will make lots of them...I may even give the editing a try. LOL

Thanks for your inspiration and for showing your beautiful work. I had forgotten all about these until I saw yours. Thanks for the reminder. :-)

I have not tried the rectangle. I am disappointed to hear it doesn't sew as well as the heart. I do love the heart though and will sew it again, I'm sure. Thanks for your input.

maryanns66 you can sew the rectangle part over fabric so you can have the design that matches your desire without the problems. I suggest sewing it over organza, that is sheer and stable.

Thank you. I feel a need to learn to digitize but I think I'll just play for awhile. What program do you use to digitize?

I sewed my in 3 layers of wash away (the plastic looking kind) I didn't have any issues with either of mine doing that. I would try it again!
