I finnally bought an applique scissors, but am not sure which way to use it. Does the curved edge go towards the stitching or the other way around? Thanks for answering.

I love mine to snip jump stitches too!
Mine has the point in an upward curve to allow to snip the thread close to the fabric.
Some could have a sideways curve (like nail scissors)I expect they cut close to shapes.The curve would then go near the stitching.

I love them, and have seen one that is smaller than what I have - i need to try to find it, for sometimes you need a smaller one to work with the smaller designs. I bet you learn to love them - I can't be without mine
