My first try at battenberg lace, Thank you Christie for sharing this design. The thread kept breaking but I STILL liked how it turned out.
I did it as a dark pink rose as the colour in roses means "appreciation, gratitude and thank you". I was thinking of my aunty as I was stitching it today( i was going to give it to her daughter, my cousin), and a couple of hours later I found out Zia, MY BEAUTIFUL aunty passed away about the same time. She lost her fight with cancer. :(Kathy

38135Oh my goodness Kathy - your dear Aunty Zia was with you - as she knew you were stitching this for her daughter. She is part of this design - I had the same sort of thing with my grandmother the first time I was stitching out a beautiful lace doily - that was similar to one that she used to do by hand.
