Well- did not plan things well. I have tried 30 wt thread in a FSL basket, and have run out of thread. I tried a new brand, and had 2 spools, but now have to get more! Plus bobbin winding!

What size spools of thread are you using? When I work on Free Standing Lace, I try to buy a larger spool of thread, I use KingStar and their spool are 1000m and I also have bought the bigger spools that are 5000m. No sense in worrying about having the color that you need, when you run out, it takes alot to stitch out FSL. Good luck on your run to the store and let us know how it turns out. A flower for you.

Do all FSL projects take huge amounts of thread? I understand they would take more, because that's all there is to the embroidery, but 2 spools? Egad!! how much would it take for, say, the dove bookmark? Thanks. Marji

Well, as I said - I tried a new brand, and realized(after looking at the spool today) that there was only 500 yds on each spool. Plus the fact that this was 30 wt. This design has 154,000 stitches. I learned something today. Almost got dressed to go into town to buy it, but with gas the price it is I will just wait until I go to work tomorrow - and you can best bet that I will buy two or three more if they have it. I still have to complete the basket side, and then the handle. :)

dlonna, sorry for your difficulties - pre-planning is what we all can do when we start a project - but don't think you are the first to do that - I have a doily that I thought that I could finish up in one day or two - but I ran out of thread and even though it was one I was making for myself - I have yet gotten back to it - I have bought the new thread, too. Hmmmmm - that might be what I work on next. Hehehe! Good luck with your FSL basket and I hope we see it in the project pages, soon. Thank you - *4U
