This reminds me of one of my very favourite movies: Mr. Blandings builds his dream house, starring Gary Grant and Myrna Loy. LOVE it.
She collects some examples of the colors she wants in her new home and tries to explain that to the painters.
With the most poetic words she describes the shades, shows pieces of paper (and a tiny THREAD) of her favourites. After a long time of detailed explanations the painter turns around to his assistant and says: "You heard it: red, green, white."
Mike has just taken up painting and this has made him realise that there really are lots of shades of every colour! I think I can work this to my advantage! Perhaps you could try it.
Yep there are sure a lot of Shades of green Just like there are a lot of shades of black . Depends on the dye. Suzanne
I have to agree with his last comment.
When I went to England the one thing that really struck me was just how green it was, vibrant, bright, picture postcard green, truly unbelievable!
All those English calendar pictures of thatch roof cottages surrounded by fields of vibrant green grass were actually real, not touched up.
And when you fly over GB it looks like a magnificent patchwork quilt, the patchwork of course, is created by the hedge rows and then of course, some fields would be planted with different crops, which made some squares different colours to others. As a would be (if I could be (LOL!)) artist, I loved it!
I don't expect you to tell hubby that a 'sister' agreed with him. hahahahaha!
hugs n gumnuts, Meg
Wish I could tell him but sadly he passed away 4 years ago next month. I still miss him terrible and am getting teary while writing this. We thought that maybe GB has different greens as it is green all of the time. I was born in Aust but get homesick for England when it is above 20C
They just do not see the shades as we do or else they just pretend not to.
hahaha, men are so precious aren't they.
You are in QLD. I was born in far Nth Qld but have lived in SA since I was 15. Still a Queenslander.
I think she means South Australia, Marietta. It can get confusing! :-)))
Hugs, Meg
Yes as much as I would love to visit South Africa, I did mean south Australia.
