I like melt away use it for my towels all the time for the top that is.Heat the iron up hold on for a few seconds, sought of beads up brush away with thumb nail if don't get all first time do it again. Unlike WSS it dosn't leave it stiff and funky looking where you wet it.also used it on fleece and FSL. I like it Very much. But each to there own, try both no harm done but the purse gets skinny after a while. HEHEHE!! Good luck in chooseing the right one you like.Flower to you and let us know which you like best.
PS. I would NOT use it again if iI were going to do embossing for me. I just could not get it out of the embossed part that is all the little cross hatch stitching around the letters . that was my design i was using.
I haven't tried thia yet but, after marygray's description I think I will Here's a flower for you.
I tried this in a class that I took at the sewing center, but was not happy with it - we were doing towels, and they were pushing the stablizer that night. I really think that I prefer the WSS, and in FSL I think it works as a stiffener. Each of us have our preferences, but that is what makes this forum so great - we learn from it.
I use melt away all the time. Mostly for lace work and when mono on ribbons. When project is finished just use your iron and iron over the item. The melt away sort of balls up and it just brushes away. I think the lace projects have a little more stability to them.
marygray Welcome to the group & & thanks for the advice ,here's a flower for you
busymommy, where did you hear of this and how does it work? Always looking at new things. A flower for you.
I was looking on Ebay for stabalizer and saw melt away. It said works like water soluble. I have never used it.I figure i would ask around and see if anyone here has used it and see if they like it or if it works well. Oh instead of using water to dissolve the stabilizer you use an iron. Not too sure on details.
you can use melt away on just about anything, especially towels due to the water soluable making he place stiff where you washed it away. you ouse the pooint of oyour iron on towels and works great. done that myself on other items i would use the whole iron but on a low temp as not to burn the item. roberta.
