You have a very thoughful family. You will certainly enjoy this. It does look like a framed
picture. Enjoy! olds/Maureen
Just noticed this posting was Jan 2011 - any empty spools now almost one year later ???
Wow you sure shouldn't be missing any color a design calls for, looks like you got every shade available...now to get down to work !!! Happy New Year ...
This is very nice and a great assortment of colors. You sure are going to be busy for awhile.
Can you send him to my house please? I really need help, lol!
How wonderful! All of those beautiful colors and a thread rack to boot. I'd love to know the directions also if hubby agrees. Thanks for sharing. You should not need any new colors for awhile. LOL
He just took a piece of peg board, painted it yellow and framed it. Then he cut 1/4" dowels into 2" legnths and glued them in holes spaced far enough apart to hold your spools. Then he hung it on the wall. I could not be happier with it.
Technically, I figured it all out on how big the peg board needed to be by laying my spools on it and deciding how far apart the pegs had to be to fit the most spools on it. Took a little thinking before cutting!
This is a great idea but I don't have a spare wall and would also worry about the threads getting dusty???? Lyn
Wonderful... I wish I had half that many.. Great job also with the frame.
Flowers for you.

WOW I thought I had alot of adult crayons. That's really beautiful. Mine is half that. Don't we just love our crayons and paints.
This is real great. wish I had room for that. Until then I have to do with my box, Yvonne
Oh wow! Wow and wow again. I guess we now know what to dream of... Have fun!
What a great gift! It's nice just as "artwork" but what a fabulous collection of "future projects" contained on that wall! Kudos to you DH and children. *

Your hubby reminds me of my hubby....yours did a great job for you in getting them ready for use and your kids did you well for getting you the threads, so have some fun for them.....
Awsome. Looks like amodern art. What a sweet husband to make this for you.
Froget my comment at the beginning. Should have looked first. This is fantastic. Could you get him to do directions in PDF format? Thanks for sharing? ♥
What a rainbow! Don't you just get so excited to see all the beautiful colors. What a great gift from the kids and hubby. Suzanne
Yes I do! I'm glad the rest of you understand how I can look at a wall full of thread and get all excited!
Thank you.
Very nice! Isn't it great having a talented housband? And a supportive one too. I have no wall space for something like that but enjoy looking at yours.
Thank you. I could not love my sewing room more. My husband fixed it all up nice and it's so cheery.

Un sogno, un miraggio, è il quadro che mi piacerebbe avere, altro che Picasso...
Oh my GOSH that is AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAmazing! Wow!!! How great! Kathy
That is a really nice gift from your family. Now you just need lots of ideas un "some time". Have fun with it. *********
A great gift and wonderful holder! Just wait until someone gives you extra thread or you buy more to have on hand, that special shade of a color... then you have spools laying around, it's urking he he
This looks great. Your husband did a fantastic job. Looks lovely in the frame. The kids must of made your day on Christmas with this wonderful gift. Thanks for sharing with us. Hugs Yvonne
Sorry I should have read all the comments first. I see that he used dowel rods. Great job!
And, he painted the peg board the same color as my yellow wall because I didn't want to lose any yellow wall!!
I love it. As I am just starting out I have been trying to figure out how to store the thread. This is interesting. I can tell it is peg board. What is each spool actually hanging on?
My husband cut 1/4" dowels that fit in the hole into 2" legnths. Then he used wood glue to glue them in. Push dowel part way in to back. From back, paint some wood glue on the 1/4" bottom edge of dowel and carefully pull back through to front until the peg is flush with the back, no further. He wanted it that way so there was no glue mess possible on the front.
Wow - this is neat - I don't have a wall big enough to do that with mine - I have windows to contend with, but do have good lighting. LOl Tell your hubby that this is a great job.
Your DH did an awesome job on the thread holder. I use pegboard for a lot of my sewing supplies and I like how this is framed in. Makes it look so much more finished :) Now to get busy on your projects :)
This is simply fantastic. Your husband deserves a medal for doing such a great job. I too love the hanger about the age thing! I hope you can keep this covered too as the dust and light will affect them. Love and blessings Chris
My sewing room is on the north side of the house and I keep the blinds pulled when I'm not in there. It's not very dusty either. I don't know why that room isn't dusty, but it's not. I'm not covering it, I think it's a decoration all by itself! Maybe if I keep using all the thread, it will always stay unrolled to a new spot! ;)
VERY nice! Wish I had the room to store mine like this (and if it had a giant dust cover - arizona is tough with dust).
Oh this looks fantastic, enjoy using all your different threads
Very lucky girl you are - this is lovely and your DH did a great job.
excellent it looks really lovely & as you say get set GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!CAROLYN
Yes, it's pretty much my motto. I kept 38 for a long time. I gave it up when people started patting me on the head when I said I was 38!
Oh I LOVE it!! I have thread on several racks. Is it those metal hooks attached to the pegboard to hold them?
