daughter and family at the end of our stay doing tourist things there. We will have about 10 days to do stuff but I also just want to hang out with the grand children. We haven't seen much of our newest granddaughter 2 months old. Somehow my daughter with 5 little ones doesn't have time to take pictures for this grandma. hehe I can't imagine how she spends all her free time. hehe. Any one near Minden Hall? Becky from Texas.

I am not certain where Suffolk is located - when DH was over there, he was in the Yorkshire area, closer to York. I loved going to the historical areas, and there is much to be seen. We in the US are not used to haveing such aged buildings to see. I loved walking the cobble streets in the shambles in York. I told DH that I felt like I had come home. LOL My English heritage coming out. Enjoy your visit, and have fun. Just spend lots of time with the grands - that is why you are really there.

I am not sure where it is either. Apparently not too far from Cambridge. We want to see some old buildings. I know what you mean about not having the old buildings here in the USA. I can't wrap my head around something being from the 16th Century.

Hi, I live about half/hour's drive from Mildenhall, and suggest you visit Norwich. It is a beautiful city, with it's own 11th century medieval Castle, and 2 great shopping Malls, and lots to see and do..Norwich has a lot of history. Hope this has been of help to you.. Marie

Hi there, I am originally from London. My advice would be do not try and plan too much as you will want to spend loads of time with those precious grandchildren. Perhaps
visit places that the children will enjoy as well. I do not know places around Suffolk only that it has the most beautiful countryside. I would read as much as possible before you go so you will have an idea of what you would like to do. Just ENJOY.

Thank you. Yes I do want to enjoy my time with the grandchildren and not be too tired from sightseeing.

I am presuming that your daughter is at the USAF base at Mildenhall, Suffolk? How far are you wanting to travel? Are you after a 'tourist' visit to places or after craft/sewing?
It is quite a number of years since I was in that part of the UK.

Yes. That is correct. I would think we would just want to do mostly day trips as my SIL would still be working until we go to London for 2-3 days. I was thinking mostly tourist places but I would like to visit at least one fabric store in England.

I will put my thinking hat on, then give some ideas

There are so many pretty towns and historical places around Milden Hall. We had friends who lived in the area years ago and visited severl times. There are beautiful parks to take the kids to so they can run and gorgeous gardens to walk through. Just enjoy yourselves.

Thanks and sorry I misspelled the name. My daughter hasn't done much sightseeing either. Being pregnant and her husband deployed for most of her pregnancy kept her pretty close to base. Then winter--they came from Guam so the temperature difference is taking some adjustment time.
