the damage is being reported now, but it is still not safe to go out, they are indicating it was not as bad as they thought it would be, but lots of communities that cannot be contacted.

it is really freaky, I am so worried about my fellow Queenslanders, where I am it is hot and balmy and bearly a breath of wind. You would not think I was in the same state as this huge storm.

Alice! this is really scary! we in brisbane will possibly feel the effects with high seas but nothing like they will feel in Cairns to Townsville...I just hope everyone is safe and there is not a lot of lives lost...Hugs my thought are with them all at this time...sally

I am very worried Sally, I think there are some folk who think they are going to be fine because they have been through cyclones before. As far as I can gather no-one has been through one like this. Even Katrina fell apart when she hit the coast, this one is just gonna keep on going all the way to Central Australia, so they say. It is really scary.

Alice, that looks like a MOST FEROCIOUS storm!
I pray that everyone seeks shelter quickly as far away as possible from the main thrust.
My friends lost their home in Katrina, and were lucky to make it through alive.
