think that adding a floor lamp would cause several hours of work rearranging the room so it could fit in! I had no more floor space left thanks to the very needed and welcome heating vents. Fortunately, my husband reminded me that I had an empty shelf in the linen closet. What a life saver that is! I am almost to the point of being under control again. But I have to remember where I put everything and my hubby needs to put a board across the back of the serger table so I don't drop eveything down the back of it. To fit in the lamp, I had to pull the table out from the wall about 8" in addition to moving other things around. I think I'll have him add a board to the back of the sewing table also. The redeorating didn't stop me from embroidering. Amazing what you can do in between threading.

Good lighting is wonderful.
I re-arranged my space today too, but it was to turn my Bulky Knitting machine to the front to knit a scarf.( my lounge has 3 knitting machines set up and 4Tables for all the sewing, overlock and embroidery machine)

Well - this must be an ongoing thing with some of us. I decided to move some things and try to make more room - I am still doing this, and have a work in progress. I sure could use an addition to my sewing room - LOL

I agree lighting is very important! It actually lifts one's mood and creative spirit, as well as relieving strain on the eyes. I have a four ft. long flourescent
light hanging by small chains fastened to the bottom of a shelf about three feet above my embroidery machine. I also have a twistable table lamp to the left of my machine that aims directly on my needle and hoop. The ceiling light doesn't cast enough light where I need it most. So, I explained to my hubby where I could use more lighting, and he made it happen! LOL

Karen, sounds like your room is small like mine. Good lighting is very important. It saves time from ripping out the wrong colors. hehehe...

Glad to hear you have good lighting, it is a must for sewing. I bought those natural lighting bulbs and they are real bright, when you first turn it on doesn't seem it but give it time to warm up and its like have the sun in my room.
