Working with all kinds of fabric all day. I can't say that I really like one over the other. I guess I have learned to deal with what I have. Thanks DeVon
I like 1930's also , I like the crisp look of quilts made with 1930's fabric. But my favorite fabric is Batik. Some day I would like to travel to Bali to the factories to see how it is made. There is a web site magazine , "Sew Many Places" that takes quilters to Bali every year . I want to go someday.
I like cottons and broadcloths as they come in every color of the rainbow and patterns they sew well and don't misbehave. Have worked with some silks but they like to slide to much for me so will only use them now in a have to case. Oh I forgot to mention I also like stitching on linen, denim and of course chambray.
I would guess that it would depend on what I was doing. I love the cottage type fabrics, and most are in the pale pastels - I bet the reproduction fabrics are great - post a picture for us.
I like a lot of different fabrics. I don't use a lot of quilting fabrics, but I do use a lot of sheeting fabric for placemats. coassters, and test pieces. I buy new sets very cheaply (100% cotton), wash them and put the fabric on my shelves ready to use.
I love batiks all the colors and textures and pretty pictures on the fabric. I made a paper pieced quilt all using different colours of batiks. It is my favorite quilt. Yup batiks for me.
Hi Bev - Cotton is my very favourite, although creases terribly it is so cool to wear. Sarah.
Sounds gorgeous - I just went to my local fabric store about an hour ago and bought a new pack which is called the The Layer cake by 3 Sisters by Moda - they are very muted colours, nothing like what I'd normally use. I'll add a picture to show you. I was actually there to buy backing fabric for Aqualina's 1st Birthday quilt and saw these packs and just had to have it. It only arrived in the shop yesterday!!!!!!!!
But, to answer your questions - I love working with Cotton.
Love and blessings Chris
Now you will have to come up with a project for your new fabric. I really like these soft colors. Sometimes fabric just says "Buy me and Take me home". LOL At least it does to me!

MMM jelly rolls ,layer cakes , charm squares I love them all so many pretty colors and patterns. what ever you make will be yummy. Hugs Lisa
Oh - I love these colors. I have been looking for some like this to do a quilt that a small group of us are going to do together. Just beautiful
Chris I have a couple of charm packs in this same series...I see baby quilt in the future, but then maybe not, hummmm
I would agree that some fabrics just reach out to you so you have to buy it!
Oh you stash sounds like fun - I have very little fabric and when I want to make something cute - with just a tiny bit of applique - I am stuck and know I need to stock up - but never manage to get to the fabric store to buy any - maybe you can give us a link to where to buy it online?
I got it from Franks Bargain Center in NH on ebay. They don't take paypal just credit cards.

Shirlene you can also try equilter.com very nice company. I have purchased from them and was very happy. Some of their proceeds go to charity.
I love to make quilts out of that 1930's reproduction fabric especially if you can get some with children designs. I recently got some in blue & white with little boy blue and little bo peep !!! Have fun with it !!!
Jo
I'll find something to make with it. Got some awhile back with what looked like Dick and Jane, for those that remember. Oh what to make!

I really like using insulated curtain fabric. It's great for making bags from and stands up to tough wear, yet embroiders on so well too. I tend to buy roll-ends etc so I have enough 'stock' at all times.
I have a couple sets of curtains in my stash that are just dying to be made into something...probably a purse! One set, is an old Sears Winnie the Pooh. Just haven't thought of the right design yet to use them in....but I can hear them now, calling me to let them out of thier bins! :)
Oh yes, I *do* use it for making beds for my foster dogs, too! Pity some of them tend to eat the zips, but I do use Velcro/hook n loop sometimes.
Thanks for the idea- I never thought of making old curtains for a purse - something more for me to think about. Tks
