I was talking to a girlfriend yesterday. She couldn't get to the shops so used her Walking foot to quilt some fabric to make my Wheel cover. I thought I should get my machine book out and learn a few things. Then I realised that I too have a walking foot. I have had this machine for 5 years. Couldn't get to sleep until about 2am as I was busy thinking and so excited. Today I attached my walking foot and quilted some fabric to make my half wheel cover. This is the first time I have ever used a walking foot. Now it is finished I am not happy with the thickness of the wadding. It was too thin. This wheel cover just slips over the top of the steering wheel. Front and back on this one are the same size then realised that the back could either be shaped or an inch shorter than the front. I will keep and use this one myself. Them embroidery is the table cloth underneath. Lyn

Great idea making half size cover. Saves a lot of extra work and material

You are correct. This one was so quick to make once I had quilted my own fabric.

Have always been told that I don't have a lot of imagination and now I think my ideas of new projects have dried up. Looking forward to all of these new projects that you people have in the future.

I like your half cover Lyn. After looking at your full cover it got me thinking on the same idea-half might be easier off and on. I was thinking also that it would be cute-for my daughter's car-to do this with one of those "peek-a-boo" type designs. Don't know if you have ever seen them-where it looks like a creature or person is peeking over a wall-
I haven't used my walking foot either-but I have quilted fabric before using my owner materials of choice and going free form.

What a great idea with the "peek-a-boo" designs. Think you could be right about the easier on and off. Try your Walking foot with the stitching guide it is so much easier than free form.

I don't know how you can stand -30. Then you are probably wondering how we put up with 42.9C like we had last week. Good present to make for others.

It was fabric that someone gave to me years ago. Looks good. Hope it doesn't fade too much.

Lyn, very nice choice of fabric and so happy to hear that you can now use your own walking foot and don't have to buy one. *4U

Only problem. I would love to do some embroidery but it would be lost on this fabric. I listed all of the feet that I should have and was ready to check them out when I realised I should look for them first. They were still pack in my sewing cabinet. saved me a fortune.

I think that our sewing/embroidery machines are very versatile and I too can say I have not used all the facilities on my machines and probably would not know where to start either.
Like what you have done. Every time I sew I think on how I could improve the next time. It is interesting seeing a steering wheel cover, it is something I had never thought about because it never gets as hot as you get it where I live
