The alphabets are kinda like all that stuff you save because "someday I might need that"....LOL!
Soon I will be making a quilt for my grand daughter who is in first grade learning her alphabets Im going to use the whole alphabet on one quilt That will help her I hope it will be hard to put just what alpha Im going to use
Good question-I always wondered myself what I was going to do with all the designs I have collected-but they are all so pretty! I like reading what other people use them for, just for ideas.
I was thinking the same thing. I see so many i like but need to see how cuties use them. A lot of clever cuties out there.
Like the others I believe it is an obsession. I do not collect all of them, just the ones that I like and think I may use "someday". I use the "baby" ones for quilts and some of the others for shirts, bags, towels and more.
I used to love buying alphabets! Now I have software that digitizes ANY true type font so now I am addicted to downloading free fonts and seeing which look great as embroidery. There are literally thousands...it's gonna take me years! Some I end up selling but most I just play around with for myself.
Must admit I have downloaded some, but usually for the other things with the letters such as flowers etc.
I use them all the time. I make darling baby quilts, and youth quilts, adult quilts, garden quilts, etc. The alphabets are really popular, especially Diddl! I also am a little addictive and collect, but only collect those that I like.
I can't help myself. I collect unless it is something I know I will never use. Ruthie
Use them as quiltblocks, on present bags and towels, nice to have your name or initial on it, good way to learn letters for child too.
Have a nice day

I love all the alfas that are in my collection and have used several. Some Baby sets have made cute quilt blocks.
I select a pretty "M" and then a plain "andy" and I have a wonderful Mandy name to put on little bags.
I select the grid on my design page to line the letters up then I take the grid off to shove each a little closer cos some letters are skinny.
With each letter as a seperate you can sew them in diff colours.
Happy Stitching!

I do not collect alphas as I know that I will never use them - something I will probably regret!!!
I collect but I am choosy about it, like I don't get the kiddie ones or crafty ones, I go for the more floral or pretty ones. I figure I will use them at some point. I do have several though and I am collecting the one on here right now, we are up to W today.
I've used a couple of complete alphas but mostly only use one at a time....but regardless I've got to have them. And not I could never possibly use all of them.
Yes, there are so many and so little time, lol..but it is nice to have different ones to pick from on projects such as towels, scarfs, bags, children's books, shirts, etc. to name a few..have fun and collect them all.
Wish I didn't collect Fabric and Embroidery cottons (hand and machine) the way some of you collect Alphabets. Cheers
Hehehe! I think it is mostly for collection purposes - I couldn't use this many alpha's if i stitch one once a week for the rest of my life - however - they are all so lovely - I have used many letters on lots of projects - when I need or want something that has to have something with a letter on it - I sure have alot to choose from. *4U
No I think it is part of the collection mania of machine embroidery. Seriously I do use some of them, making cards and gifts or one letter by itself.
