I so agree with you. How come they have money to waste, but not to help people who need it. I say get your priorities straight. There should be no homeless or starving people anywhere in the world.
This is one reason I am not a big fan of sports or the entertainment world. They get paid far too much for what they do. There I feel better now.
Oh dear, I'll try and make this short! I so agree with you. With all the layoffs, people loosing their homes, people going hungry, budget cuts and THEN they come up with thousands of dollars for 15 mins of lights in the sky! Ok, enuf.

Fireworks: I like the beautiful colored fireworks once a year, but I don't like the hard and strong sound fireworks. And I hate the people that don't clean up the mess that's left behind. I like to see it, but I will never buy firework myself and light it ( is this correct English?) I am a bit afraid for it too. Even the little sparklers children fireworks is not for me, oh no
But I do like to watch a good organised fireworks once a year or with very special occasions.
I hate the noise and the smoke and debris, but admit I like the pretty colors
I'm in agreement with you, as well, mostly on behalf of the animals but also the hideous waste of money.
HERE! HERE! There is so much waste by those in charge of our hard earned taxes, sometimes I wish we could kick them all out and appoint a Trustee, if only we could find anyone left we could trust.
I quite like them in small doses, but I do agree wholeheartedly that they are a criminal waste of money.
Where I live in SA they are banned, because of how they effect animals.
I live in SA as well, but there is always some celebration or other that will have some throughout the year.
I must add I live in South Australia and not South Africa, but would love to visit there sometime. Lyn
