This was my first attempt at a window design. Thousands of stitches, but

a pleasure to do. Framed by my other half.

Thank you. It is as easy as any other
machine embroidery, when the squares have been embroidered, it's just a question of
joining them together. *4U

Pat this is lovely. Because I have something I will need to join soon in similar style, did you just butt the pieces together and zigzag, so at all times the right side of design is upper-most? Cause I was thinking of maybe right sides together and straight stitch extremely close to edge of satin stitch...Do let me know please...

ron111otter by ron111otter 25 Dec 2008

Thank you. Yes, I did butt the pieces
together, right side uppermost, and did
a zig-zag stitch to join them, and then
did a satin stitch twice down, and three
times across. If you have already done
something with a satin stitch border,
then joining them with a zigzag stitch
will be all that is needed. *4U

kezza2sew by kezza2sew 25 Dec 2008

yes thanks Pat, it does have the satin stitch border all around...So I am please I just happened to clik on this page and saw your beatuiful piece of work...Must have meant to be.

Thanks from both of us. Do have a go at
one of these windows, they really are easy. I used the 4x4 size, and there were
12 squares to do, then it was just a
question of joining them together.

Pat & Ron, you both did a great job. I really love this piece. So are the borders done after? What is it's size and it is from BFC-Creations?

ron111otter by ron111otter 12 Mar 2008

Thanks Shirlene. Yes it is from BFC, hold
on while I go and measure it ! It is 18inches high by 14inches wide. The size
of the designs are 4inches square, I think
that's the smallest size. When all the
squares were done, I joined them together
with a zig-zag stitch, and then did a
satin stitch down twice, and three times
across.

shirlener88 by shirlener88 13 Mar 2008

Oh my - I love this set.

edithfarminer by edithfarminer 05 Jan 2009

thank you for explaining.
I want to try to make one and I thought you joined with narrow strips of material. this seems much easier and more likely to get it straight too I suppose.
It is VERY BEAUTIFUL
