Thank you agnes92. I do not speak French but put your comment through Babblefish to lean what you had said. Bobbin Lace is beautiful lace. I am doing a rose ground piece at the moment. Lyn
I do, or should I say did. I have not done any during the last couple years. Keeps the fingers nimble! I am digitising some of my old patterns, and noticed I had some UFO's I really have to finish.
I like tatting as well, it's less versatile but can so easily be taken with you, just one or two shuttles and a ball of yarn, compare that with lace making!
You are correct but I am hopeless at Tatting. Don't have problems with most craft, only tatting. Lyn
Try needle tatting, much easier. With a shuttle i get everything wrapped around my fingers and don't know what goes where. But i can needle tat!

Is Bobbin Lace the same as Tatting? If it is then it's a very delicate form of lace making. I have watched women at our local Craft Show Tatting and am in awe of their expertise with all those shuttles going back and forth. Love Chris
P.S. It looks very complicated to me.
No it is not like tatting. Tatting is done with a shuttle. Bobbin lace is done with bobbins mostly wooden though you can get bone plastic bobbins as well and pins. It is slow but if you can count to four you should be able to do it. I am hopeless at tatting I was sure I would be able to tat as my late Mother was good at it but like dancing I have two left feet/hands
Hi, I learnt bobbin lace at night school years ago, then went on to some other craft and picked it up again to make miniature lace for dolls houses. That's when you need a magnifying glass! Jan
The Lady who teaches where I go is English born and has been doing lace about 43 years. Love to see some of youw work in the Projects. Cheers, Lyn
