I do not download the color charts. I think the only time I would is if you had a specialty design like the "Hummel designs" that you would want to be very specific to get the look. I always pick what I like to do my designs.
If, after dl and looking at the design, the colors resemble what I saw, then no. But not all files show up in the machine as the picture showed. Brother threads have a lot less shades than say, Madeira or Sulky. I usually right click and keep a jpeg or bitmap of the picture, then I know I don't have to rely on my memory. I like when designers include a txt with the colors listed. That shows up in my software, whereas a pdf file does not. Then I have to make notes to look onthe cd of designs.

I make a .pdf (I use CutePDF - a freebie) of the color chart and name it the same as the design and store it in the same folder with the design. My software and machine are "color-blind" so having the chart and a picture of the finished product really helps sometimes.
If it is something with a lot of colours then I name it the same as the Pes file, so they stay together. I usually use what I personally like
I save some of the charts with the picture of the design. I either save a pdf or use the snipping tool..and save them with the same name as the design..
I have a Brother Innovis 1200 and it lists the colours when the design goes into the machine. Guess all machines do the same. I have downloaded a colour chart from the Brother site and use that as a guide. Have laminated the colour chart as well. Lyn
I do not download them, but if I did I would store them in the same folder as the embroidery design. I like to decide my own colors Hugs Sally
