certain age. LOL!!!

Ray came up on Saturday and brought our other cat, (I brought the other two with me last week), the dog, and his Mum and they all stayed the night and all day Sunday. It was wonderful and I can't wait for us to be fully moved in here.

This morning I decided, since it's been a week, I would let the two older cats have free reign to go outside on the upstairs verandah, without me watching them like a hawk. YEAH RIGHT!

After about ten minutes, my baby disappeared and I spotted him downstairs in the yard.
Needless to say I didn't panic, but bolted down the stairs, through the front yard, around into the back yard, quickly located him, where he had gone through the fence to the waters edge (slippery bank, totally unsafe), I immediately dashed to the jetty gate and while going through it (without taking my eyes off Mishka), something caught my eye on the jetty, hence my loud scream at which time the snake took off and when I could finally tear my eyes away from the snake and look up, so had Mishka. I thought snakes were deaf????

I still didn't panic! (you do believe me don't you???) But took off along the fence to where he had been, checked the water, under the adjoining fence, climbed as high up the fence as I could to look into next door's back yard, NO MISHKA ANYWHERE!!!! (Still I didn't panic!)

I retraced my steps, climbed through the veranda balcony railing, swinging through the gap, legs first like a kid swings on monkey bars (Ray started building stairs at the opposite end of the veranda but only removed two palings and the top and bottom railings are still there) so you can imagine the sight of me doing this!!!

Anyway I finally found him scratching to get in the downstairs door.

And all that time I didn't panic once, and if you believe that then you also believe in Santa Claus.

All doors are now tightly shut and certain cats will not be allowed outside again until I've had my electrocardiogram!!!!

LOLOLOLOL!!!!!!

I'm now off to take a Valium!!!!

hugs n roses

Gosh Meg, please be on the alert - I hope it wasn't a Brown! They will strike out at you. Please be careful and keep those beautiful cats inside for a while at least to adjust. I can just imagine you jumping around on the balcony etc. I hope all is well now. Love and blessings Chris

Oh Meganne, that would have been my worst nightmare. I can 'handle' a lot of situations, but not sure how I would 'handle' a snake or maybe it would handle me. Anyway, I hope you enjoy your new place.

Oh, Meg - Yikes, I am out of breath just reading your post!! Just think, your kitty is one smart cat to come back to the door when she has only been there a short time! I bet you both sleep well tonight!!* Hugs, Laura (hmmmmm, the snake probably will too!)

Well Sis looks like you're going to have all sorts of visitors at the lodge...hopefully that sneaky ole snake will move further upstream and not be a threat to you babies. Take some Valium and just get your heart out of your mouth as I'm sure that's where it was when you saw that ole snake and your kitty was in danger. Glad you didn't fall and hurt yourself. Take care.
Love n Hugs,Sis

Quick fix before the valium kicks in...grab a paper sack breathe in and out for awhile....whew...so glad the only snakes we have around me are the ones in the pet stores and the little garden snakes...which are more afraid of you than you are of them...

I have no idea how big this one was Deanna, I could only see about 6 foot of him, but I do know I was within striking range if he had decided to strike.
Luckily I was more worried about my cat and didn't really have time to think about what could have happened.... IEEEEE!
LOL!!!

Yeah right Sally, when it comes to my baby I become a snivelling, crumpled, heap!
You can bet the shoreline mess along our property is the very next job on the list, with great regret, as the birds and ducks like to nest there, but the safety of my 4 legged kids and especially my grand kids must come first.

But I'm ok now, truly.

If I had some garden tools I would be out there cleaning out the undergrowth right now.
Thanks for your concern.
Hugs n love, Meg
