There is a yahoo group called Sew it's for Sale. It'd free to advertise and you can get some great deals on all kinds of stuff related to sewing. I got a great deal on a QE4, and I'm looking at another item to upgrade my emb. machine.
I sold one on ebay! I did post it but made sure it was tightly packed, there are some fees but if I sell on ebay I add in the fees to price of goods...
Any item you sell on EBAy has a "protection Plan" with it. In other words if I buy it I expect it to work when I get it.PayPal is also a guarantee to get your money back if item does not work.Fees are not that high for either one.Make sure you pack item in a double box and NOTHING moves. or specify LOCAL PICK-Up ONLY.Craigslist is free and you can specify how far you are willing to go to sell. I have sold on Ebay for 5 yrs and have 100%positive feedback.Everything from a bike,Micro,to books.
You can advertise with artisticthreadworks.com
I sold an embroidery machine on E-Bay and stated cash on delivery and that I would be happy to show how the machine worked.
Was lots of interest and a good experience I would be happy to repeat. Good luck!
depending on where you are located
Ebay will give your items the most
exposure.
You can limit the cost involved by only accepting
personal cheque/bank transfer, as paypal costs would be the most costly, however they do offer the buyer some protection.
I puchased my used machine via ebay and was happy with paying cash on collection thus seeing the machine in action before parting with any money.
Good luck
