The program will load on to the hard drive and the machine will acknowledge the hasp/dongle as a hardware connection as "HASP 2.17" but when I try to open the embroidery program it opens onto the screen and I get the Error message "No dongle attached. Cannot open program." and the program will not allow me to proceed.

I have removed and reinstalled the program several times but it makes no difference.
The program works on a friends computer, so I presume the problem is the new Windows 7 program.

I think they have a patch for vista use that and I think it will work.....My husband got it to work but now can't remember how.. but I think that going thru vista is how he did make it work. He call for help and they said it didn't work, but it does...I think he got the patch throught the Husqvarna site...I hopethat helps

I would check with you Viking dealer. Windows 7 wasn't out when 3D was produced. I have 4D and had to download an update so that Windows 7 would work with it.

I especially bought a new laptop with XP on it. Was lucky to find one, looked on line. Believe they put it onto a new computer, so it costs more, but 3D works fine, so you save in the long run by not having to buy new software, what we know costs a lot from Viking. See if someone can put XP onto your computer, that is my advice.

It's cheaper to find an older laptop with XP & use that!!! I did get my 3D loaded to VISTA, but don't know about Windows 7. I got the free upgrade to 7 when I got my computer, but won't install it as I'm afraid I won't be able to use all my programs!!

A lot of people have had problems with this. I do believe they have figured out a way to do it.
check out sewwhat4retirement.com
I am not sure if it is on that site I have seen others post to but I believe it is. I do see alot of people selling their 3D though so am not sure if there is a fix for it. I do know viking is not supporting an update to make 3D run pretty soon my 4D will be the same way. Will not purchase a viking program again though. guess they really don't want the business. my next purchase will be embrid

You know, you would think Viking would get the hint that customer service is #1 when you buy something. Today at a quilt shop we were talking & a lady asked about our Viking machines. To a person, we all said we loved our machines BUT the service was almost nonexsistent. There were 4 of us there with Vikings. HELLO, VIKING, ARE YOU OUT THERE LISTENING???

I worked for a Viking dealer 15 years ago when all the software was fairly new. They have the idea that they will sell you new stuff if the technology changes. Because of that, they don't support 'back' or non-current products. I think it really sucks! We spend a lot of money for this stuff and most of us plan to have and use it for a long time. It would be nice for the company to support us so we would be willing to stay loyal.
