This is my first attempt at quilting - it started out as a few samples I made when I first got my embroidery machine and then I decided to make them into a small quilt for my granddaughter so I made more squares! There are 10 different teddy bears, five squares with patterns on and five with text - Japanese symbols for Love and Happiness, "Handle with care," "I burp, therefore I am," and "Hand made with love by Granny." It's not as fancy as the other quilts on this site but it's my first - my daughter is now pregnant and I'm about to start another one for her!!

Very nice!! At least you have a first one. I still dream that someday I will try one. I think I'm secretly afraid I'll find a new obsession.

I think this is adorable, how did you attach the lace? Did you quilt each block or the whole thing after it was put together. FLowers for you this truly is cute. My granddaughter was the recipient of my first quilt, all disney princesses.

Hi. Glad you like it! I sewed the squares together first, then added the floral border. Then I quilted it, sewing between the squares and added a matching backing. The frill came last, I just sewed it round the edge of the quilted area.

Hi Dianne...Your Quilt is lovely...you can see the Love in every Stitch..I once nearly didn't ever make a quilt because I thought that everyone elses was "perfect" and I don't do "Perfect"...Then I made one anyway For my Little Sister when she had her Baby 21years ago It took me nearly the whole 9months to make it..and to wasn't perfect..But the joy on my Sister face when I gave it to her..I remembered why I had made it in the first place "Because I Love her...Perfection is not Love ...Making the Quilt is...Keep Stitching With Love.....Dianne

I'm glad you like it : it wasn't difficult so much as time-consuming - I started it when Rebecca was born, at the end of December and I've just finished it! I stitched the embroidered squares together by hand (couldn't do it neat enough on my machine) then added a border of floral-patterned fabric, then I quilted it with some thick padding (batting?) along the lines between the squares, added the broderie anglais frill and finally a backing of the same flowered material - the quilting/frill/backing part took me just the one day, all the rest was making the squares and sewing them together! The teddy bears and motifs are all free designs from various sites; some of the lettering is also free designs and some I did myself using the lettering on my machine and combinining it with redwork pictures.

Thank you very much for all you told me.
I'll try to make a quilt. It is difficult to make a start.....but I'll try to do it.

It's adorable. What do you mean not fancy, in my opinion fancy is very overated. I prefer substantial and Made with Love. You did a great job. I love it,and Teddys are my all time favorite. I'd like to give you a bushel of roses if I could. Keep up the good work
