I'm home. I was so sad to miss our event. I plan on being their next month. It was great watching Maddi play soccer, she is a fantastic player. I got to stay with my 89 year old, second Mama. Sooo good to reconnect with her. Will email soon
twee I am glad to know you are home - safe and sound - we did miss you dear - I am glad that Maddi did well and especially glad to hear that you got to spend some time with your second Mama - I look forward to your email, too. *4U
So man great ideas here! Since you already did stabilizers perhaps do something less known. I had never heard of ITH or FSL until I got here to Cute.
I do enjoy both ITH and FSL - but do much more with the FSL - we will just see - I have almost a month to come up with something - if we don't postpone the meeting.
Hi,The most important thing i have learned & i am still working on this SHIRELENE IS HOW TO ORGANIZE OUT/YOUR/ THERE designs!!This saves time etc. My first year on here is still a disgrace but what i save now i know it better thanks carolyn
I do like the idea of organization on the PC with files - that is for sure - wished I could say - every design I have is organized - but I do know where to find it or how to - if I need it. Thanks
Hi Shirlene,
I agree with everyone re the correct stabilisers and needles.
I also reckon that everyone should know about the different formats that can be used for their particular machine - and of course how to download via the different companies e.g. WinRAR, EMBVIEW, Ambassador etc. etc. etc.
I am not sure of the names of other companies, but I had all sorts of trouble when I got a new computer and my my Husqvarna 4D programme couldn't "speak" to the computer.
I now can download through WinRAR every design I like even the DST (which has dreadful colours, but I change them). Computers are great when they work, but when they don't communicate with your software it's a nightmare.
It's great to have this website to ask all the questions when you are not sure of what you are doing.
Thanks Shirlene for all you do and the advice you give. Love and blessings Chris
P.S. You could also share the little tips you do with regards to the FSL you make. For instance I read in a post that you use a hairdryer to dry some of the things.
Thank you Chris - we have done the stabilizer just last month - hit on the internet some with this last meeting - of coarse we could talk about how to get files from the website to our pc and from the pc to the machine - and I guess I could share a tip or two on FSL - if they might be interested in that. Hehehe!
If I were you, I would show off (your) talent with FSL! I know that you could have several meetings just on that and still not finish all that you have to share about that! That would be the best of both sides of the fence with you being a FSL expert! I am sure that not everyone has even done FSL before if the group is on a learning venture. That tells me that that you are way ahead of most of the group in that field! As long as I have been sewing with the embroidery machines, I feel that I really know nothing, per say, about FSL. Just a thought. If it were me, I would be teaching on what I know best! It is for sure that your love for FSL has made you an expert.
Linda, thank you - we do have a couple that do very well with their FSL, as well. I will wait and see what comes of the plans for the next gathering, too.
Thank you each for you great idea's. Once I speak to Teri (twee) we will decide if we are going to postpone the trip to my place or not and what I can plan on as a lesson. THANKS!
I think Linda is right on. I wouldn't mind having the answers to all the topics she brought up. I have been learnig by trial and error! I know some about the stablizers but don't have a clue about the different needles. Wouldn't mind knowing about those websites either.
Becky, the fun thing about getting together - you get to share new things - you learn - here on this site - we have that - just not in person - so check out all the sites - that other mention - look through the postings - you will learn all that you want from here - as well.
For beginners; Learning to hoop correctly and which stabiliser to use with which material.
Otherwise, colour co-ordination is probably the most important as I have seen the most beautiful designs made truly ugly by a poor choice of colours.
Glad you had so much fun wish I could join you. :-)
Hugs n love, Meg
I suppose I could do something on hooping - that hasn't been done - we did stabiliser last month. I could stitch out something in a bad color combo and something with a good color - to show the difference in color coordination. Thanks and I wished you could join us, as well. *4U
To hoop or not to hoop that is the question. the ladies I have taught did not know they did not have to hoop to hoop everything. Also different needles for different thread and materials is also handy to know. Hugs Lisa
Shirlene - this sounds great. Do you have any pictures of your gathering? Sarah.
Sarah, I have one picture from a couple months back - but these ladies are not member of CUTE and I didn't get their permission to share it online. Thanks!
The MOST important thing I think I've learned was ALL the different stablizers and when to use each one. Second would be ballpoint vs sharp needle and size of needles. Third would be good websites for supplies: stablizers, needles, wws, hoops, thread etc.
If I know you Shirlene you will have it all planned out and it will be a WONDERFUL success (wish I lived closer)
Hugs
Linda
Actually we had our last meeting was on stabilizer and yesterday was on sites. I wished you lived closer, too.
Have a don't do list for Newbies! You know I had a problem with my FSL butterfly tonight. Maybe create a list of how to use the different stablizers. Which type of stablerizer works best with....
Thank you for your help tonight!
Dawn
Show what you are good at like your FSL. Bring some of your supplies, designs, samples that work best for you. Since you are so far south of the others, if you could find a hotel north of your city that would let you use their breakfast room (after breakfast of course) or lounge for free that could be an option to get everyone closer to you.
Thanks dear - I have thought about that - I take things each month - I think they are sick of my lace stuff - Hehehe! Actually - I drive that way each time - to meet them - I think they may car pool to come this way - who knows.
Are these ladies new to embroidering or are the old pros? You could share with them your specialty which is lace. Other cuties may have better ideas but you'll come up with a plan
Bev
they all have had their machine for a time - some have used them for embroidery - some have not - I do take something on my lace each time - but I did plan on showing them my inventory - it might overwhelm them - Hehehe! I will have to come up with something - that is for sure.
